Question about online connection for Wii

Requiem

CAGiversary!
What if I don't have a wireless set-up, is there any other way to make the Wii go online? As far as I know, it has no ethernet port, and I don't have a Wi-Fi set-up.

Is there some dongle or adaptor available now?

you can buy a adapter that you plug into the usb port. It allows you to use an ethernet cable

I know datel makes one but I dont know about others.

Edit:

If you want to get online easily, you can get the Wifi adapter. It's $20 used at Gamestop if you can find it.

Other option is to just get a router, which is my preference, because it'll give you a lot more options down the road if, say, you have other consoles that want to go online wirelessly.

If you need a wired option, I can only suggest Nintendo's official one, because there is a strong chance that future firmware updates on the Wii will lock out third party options. Whether or not that is intentional or a side effect I can't be sure, but it is more likely than not.

From what I know up to this point the Datel has some issues.
I would just go with the nintendo USB one. Hasn't had any problem for me as of yet.

That one apparently does NOT work with AVG firewall which is very common program to have... Food for thought.
