My tv can display up to 1080i. Right now I have the 360 set to 1080i but i noticed some games like Far Cry only do up to 720p. Does the 360 automatically convert it to 720p or do I have to change it in the settings?? Also are there any games that are better off played in 720p then 1080i?

Good Question,

I have 1080i as well, and I noticed that my BC games look horrible.

Do I need to change the settings before playing those games ?

I have a CRT TV so it doesn't have 720p, the 360 upconverts 720p to 1080i.

Edit: Your best bet is to use the setting your naive resolution.

The 360 will scale 720p to 1080i, but for games you are better off playing in 720p. 720p is better for fast moving things like games & sports, where as 1080i is better for slower moving things like nature shows and feature length movies.

exactly

I have a DLP 720p, and ive played my 360 on my friend's 1080i CRT. From the second i booted up my COD2 i noticed a huge difference in graphical ability. The 720p seemed lightyears ahead, and all the other games I tried proved no different. IMO 720p>1080i

For games you are correct. My TV's only do 1080i and it still looks great, but not as good as 720p.

I think it probably has to do with the fact that since you have a DLP, your TV is somewhere between 42"-70" and your friend has a CRT which is 35" at most.

While 720p is supposed to be better at moving, and 1080i is supposed to be better at still, supposedly most people can't tell the difference.

Personally, I have a 26" LCD and a 30" CRT and I can't tell the diffrence when playing 720p/1080i on my LCD or playing 1080i on my CRT.

difference between 720P/1080i is pretty slim, unless you have something around 40" HDTV... while 720P is better at motion, but 1080i draws better clear picture w/ a bit more details... I have a 23" LCD HDTV, I found it best for LCD TV to run the game at 720P instead of 1080i, only because I notice less blur & my TV only has 12 ms response rate... but my brother 30" CTR looks pretty good at 1080i...

OFF-Topic: anyway does anybody know where I can find a CTR EDTV (480P) 20"? I could only find these in LCD.

I have a 60" LCD. I have switched between the 720p and 1080i before and there didnt seem to be a diffrence. Thats why I was asking.
