Question about returning preordered games

I preordered Eternal Sonata and got a faceplate. Recently I completed an offer that enables me to get a free 360 game (yourfree360game.com). I was wondering if I chose Eternal Sonata as my free game and then return it to GS.
Do I have to give back the faceplate? Also, will the person that got the preorder get in trouble or lose numbers or whatever. Since the person that handled the preorder is a friend (don't want to cause him any inconvience)

i would think so.. i would return it to another gamestop. or, you could pretend to exchange it for another game. then return that game later.

You don't have to return the faceplate to GameStop, just don't even pick up the game since you're getting it for free, you can return to GameStop and just use the money you pre-ordered it with to buy something else or just get refunded your $5. It doesn't affect the employee at all. :]

Did you have to pay any money to some offer or something to obtain that free game on the website you listed?

It's YMMV... all of the EB/GS around me require all promotional items to be returned with an item. The only way you can guarantee to keep the faceplate and return the game is if the faceplate doesn't show up on you receipt.

But again, YMMV- it might go either way.

Might go return it at another gamestop when the free ES comes in the mail

The problem is I picked it up yesterday, paid in store credit and opened it this morning :wall:. Planning on using the game thats coming in the mail using it as the return item.

With the offers completed, I'd say $2

Well, no metnion about a promo with the preorder on the receipt

Returning an opened game for full credit probably won't fly at Gamestop. They will at least give you the trade-in value for the game (which is probably pretty high since it just came out recently), but I wouldn't expect much more than that.

It wouldn't hurt to try though! The best way to find out is calling and asking them.

Just make sure your receipt says nothing about an additional item as this was how I finally got a castlevania portrait of ruin preorder bonus about 6 months after the game came out. Found out they still had one left, employee wouldn't give it to me free (which they have done for me before for less old preorder bonuses).

So long story short I bought the game, drove by another gamestop on my way home and did a return, and kept the preorder bonus (or in my case, a 6 month after release bonus).

Side note: I would have kept the game if I didn't already have it.

Return it whenever dude, just as long as it's within 7 days. As long as it's sealed, you'll be fine. You keep the faceplate also. Easy.

7 days?

IIRC, it is 7 days for GC and 30 days for GS/EB.

Nope, 7 days to get your money back. 30 days to replace it, if it's defective.
