I wanna pick up SC3 at some point, but I'm worried about it corrupting my memory card...just wondering how the glitch works and how can I avoid it?
where u ppl hear about that corrupting save files for this game?
there were some posts here about it when it first came out.

can anyone be a little more specific about the problem with the game?

Basically, the game corrupts if you delete anything off the card older than when you originally created the save. It has to do with the order data is stored on the card.

Example:

You create new saves for the following games in order:

MGS3
KH2
PsiOps
Soul Calibur 3
ZOE 2

You then go back and delete the PsiOps save. The SC3 data is now corrupt.

Workaround:

To get around this bug, get a new memory card or completely wipe one clean. Make sure SC3 is THE FIRST GAME you save. You should never corrupt. This is the method I used and it's been fine.

It also has something to do with people not using officially licensed Sony memory cards. I never had a problem with mine but you might also want to turn off the autosave function.

damn, that's lame. Thanks for the info. looks like I'll need a new card for it.

also, if it does corrupt you can just load up your game from the corrupt save, then switch it with a different mem card (still with SCIII on) and save from the option menu... from there on your save is no longer corrupt. I did this myself, so no worries. Also, the glitch only happens when playing chronicles of the sword. It's not as horrible as people think, as long as you know the workaround.

also, I would wait for a minor price drop sometime since it looks like it may be dropping soon.

thanks for the tip Rolento! Definitely waiting on the drop...didn't realize it's still $44 used.

I think he was asking if it has been fixed, which I'd also like to know.

as for SC3, in the words of many a CAG throughout history: "Still waiting on that price drop..."
