Question about upgrading to bigger hard drive

I understand you need a transfer cable and such but I already cant play my arcade games offline because my original xbox rrod so i had to send it in and obv received a different console. My question is some of the games on my current 20gb HD werent downloaded under my current gamertag either. How will this all work out after everything is transferred? Ive heard u can call M$ to associate all DLC with the specific console you have that way you can play your arcade games offline. Is this correct?

Yeah you just need to transfer your license but you can only do it once per year.

You don't always need a transfer cable. You can use USB storage to transfer the content as well.

As for the DLC, you can transfer all of that, but as mission42 stated, you need to transfer the licenses to the new console as well. You can do that on the Xbox site once you transfer the content and have your new console information.
