So I just got a 1080p 50" plasma samsung.

However, my 360 doesn't have an hdmi port so I'm using component cables. In the video settings of the 360, it lets me choose 720p, 1080i, and 1080p.

Which one should I use?

My Samsung supports 1080p over component, so I assume they all do. That's probably the best option in this case, but there's no harm in trying 720p as well. Since most games will be scaled regardless (few games actual render at 1080) you may as well see which scales better, your tv or the 360.

Ohhh I had no clue component is able to display 1080p. Always thought it was limited to 720p and 1080i.

Thanks guys, I'll use 1080p

Not all TVs support 1080p over component, and not all output devices support 1080p over component. The PS3 doesn't support 1080p over component.

As Allnatural mentioned, you might want to try setting the 360 at 720p and let the TV's scaler bring it up to 1080p as well as try the 360 at 1080p to see how the 360's scaler upscales it to 1080p.
