Question about whether Push or Fetch is better for an iPhone.

So, I just got an iPhone, along with that wonderful 2gb plan... Anyway, I'm curious about if an iPhone vet can give me an answer to my question.

I don't receive any e-mails, and I'm more concerned about lowering my data usage, rather than battery life. What is the optimal setting for me to use for e-mails that allows me to save data? I only have a Gmail account that I get anywhere from 1 to 10 e-mails per day with.
