Question for anyone who lives or has been to Canada!! UPDATE: Choosing Montreal!

So me and my friend are planning a holiday trip to Canada. My only question is, out of these cities - Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa, what would be the best place for two 19/20 year old college kids to visit? In other words, which one is college age friendly and has the most stuff to do? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!



UPDATE: 12/6, so I have chosen Montreal to go to, now the question is, what is there to do in Montreal other then sightsee? I am not familiar with the area, but any input would be greatly appreciated!
 
Toronto was a big party city when I went there (5 yrs ago). Lots of hot promiscuous Canadian chicks there. Dunno if it's still true though.
 
Montreal is a phenomenal city but Toronto is the better party city. Tons of bars, friendly people, and the hottest chicks I've ever seen in my life. I think it's a prerequisite that you have to be a model to be a waitress.

Protip: If you're straight, for the love of God stay away from Church street!
 
Wow, I don't know anyone who lives in Toronto that would agree that we're a great party city. This city is full of the most uptight people in the whole fucking country.

Go to Montreal. Cherchez les belles femmes. That's where Torontonians go when they want to have a good time.

Ottawa isn't that great - a lot of uptight people there as well, but Kingston (between Montreal and Toronto) is a university town with a lot of pubs and nightlife.

Either Kingston or Montreal is where I would go. Quebec City can be fun as well, but it's a little less "anglo-friendly" than Montreal.
 
I was born and raised in Quebec Canada, and I am near your age, I would suggest Toronto. However if u wanna truly site see, go to either Montreal, Ottawa, or even Quebec.

Tornoto, really, is just another average American City
 
Montreal, without a doubt. It's MUCH cheaper, the women are better looking and less snobby, and the nightlife is more active.

That place is the nexus of the gay universe. Unfortunately my brief walk down that street was one of the few times of my life I was hit on. :cry::lol:
 
Just go to Windsor. It has casinos and topless (and bottomless) dancing - that's all you really need. Be sure to pick up some Cuban cigars while you're there.
 
I visited Toronto for a long weekend a few weeks ago. It's a nice, very liveable place with well-run public transit, good food and extremely friendly people... but it did not come off as a wild party city by any means. I'm sure it has seemed like a great city for partying to all the 19-year-old Americans who go there for the express purpose of getting tipsy on Molson, but drunken college freshmen do not an exciting night life make.

I've read a lot about Montreal and heard about it from friends who have lived there. It seems totally amazing. In an alternate universe where I studied French instead of Spanish in school, and actually retained what I learned, I'd probably be making plans to move there.

Bioshpere, Jardin de Botanique, underground mall, maybe a Montreal Canadians game, Mont Royale, Old Sea Port, Basilique Notre Dame, and my favorite the Museum of Fine Arts. That place had incredible paintings from as far back as the 1400s and right now they have a Monet exhibit. Also, you might want to check the official Montreal website to see what events are occuring during the time frame you plan to visit because Montreal always has city sponsored events (ie Franco Follies, Just for Laughs comedy festival, Jazz Festival, Art Fairs, etc).

Windsor is only good if he wants to hang out with other 19 and 20 yr old Americans. :lol:

I know the OP chose Montreal, but I usually visit Toronto once a year. Love the city.

And yes, Church street is the gay nexus (in fact, the bar Fly is the bar they use on Queer as Folk - it looks huge on TV, but is actually pretty tiny.) If you're open-minded (read as: aren't afraid to breathe the same air as gay people because of "cooties" or something), try visiting Toronto during Gay Pride. Seriously, it is a blast - just one big party that spills on the streets. The cops look the other way as long as you're not being a dick; it is the only time one will ever see a cop offered a joint and politely refuse (until after work) instead of kicking the guy's ass.

All that aside, I still love to vacation in Toronto. I've done most of the sight-seeing stuff years ago, now I just go shopping or bar hopping or just hanging out.
