question regarding amazon shipping...

y2jasper

CAGiversary!
so i had preordered mass effect 2 with release date shipping and the order had an eca discount on it. before it shipped, i had customer service add pokemon hg/ss to the order, and they automatically were set to release date delivery as well (which is a bit odd since they come out on a sunday but w/e). now a few days ago i had them add halo reach to the order too, and now the 3 games are grouped as 1 shipment, it says a delivery estimate can't be provided and the shipping preference is set as "send in as few shipments as possible", but in the order details all 3 games are still listed as release date delivery.

so what is more likely- that each game will be delivered separately? if i change the shipping preference to "ship as they become available" i lose the release date shipping...

Most likely is that it'll ship later in the year when Halo: Reach is available. You could always call/email Amazon and ask them. They should be able to tell you.

If you change the shipping state to "as items become available", it should only allow the items to ship as they're available and not make any changes to the order itself.

well i tried to do that, but after selecting "as available" i had to choose shipping speed too, and release date isn't an option. i mean if i change it to two-day, does amazon upgrade it to release day since i have prime?

Change it, then once you get ME2, change it back for the others ... maybe?

Call them and tell them to fix it so they ship individually.

I have their number in my cell phone contacts list for a reason.

i don't think you understood the situation exactly. i already got ME2, the pokemon games would be what comes next in 2 weeks. basically if i go to change the shipping preference to ship each item as it becomes available, it won't let me keep release date delivery for the items. i think it's a common problem with amazons system where an order with multiple items doesn't let you have release day delivery, even if the items qualify. (although given what my order was like before adding reach, if you have one item originally on the order and it has release date, then any games you add after are also the same)

yeah i plan to call them tomorrow but i just wanted to know if anyone has had similar situation before.

As ME2 already shipped, it's likely that they'll revert to FSSS if you don't have Prime and 2-day shipping if you do.

Though, is Release Date delivery on an order you're already getting at a lower price because of your ECA credit and adding the item to the order to get that credit really matter?

well ME2 did have RDD, and currently the shipping speed is RDD for every item in the order, but the shipping preference is set to "group my items into as few shipments as possible" and the 3 preorders are all grouped into 1 shipment, with no delivery estimate given. if i want to look at it optimistically, the fact that each game is listed as RDD would mean i get them when they come out. if i want to look at it pessimistically, the fact that their all grouped together makes me think i won't get my pokemon games until the fall .

and in regards to the second part, i mean if i can't keep the RDD, it isn't like i'm going to cancel the order or start badmouthing amazon. but if there is a way to keep both the discount and RDD, well then it's my duty as a true CAG to get them

edit: also i do have a full year of amazon prime too.

well i called amazon today, the guy basically said nothing could be done to the order, but he also didn't seem to know exactly what he was talking about (since he said i couldn't change the shipping preference even though i can). so i sent an email instead, i guess if i get a no from them as well i'll have to give up RDD. but i don't know if my inner child can wait 2 extra days for pokemon!

yeah although i don't know if it will actually arrive then or not. basically my order originally only had one game on it (ME2) with release day delivery. when i had them add other games to the order, they are all automatically set as RDD too. since pokemon comes out on sunday though i don't know exactly how true that will be.
