Probably easier/cheaper via ethernet. Either connect both PCs to a router or switch, or you can connect the PCs directly if you use a cross-over cable, which is the Cat5 equivalent of a bridged USB cable.

Yes you'll need a crossover cable, but you can make your own out of a regular cable. But since you probably don't have a crimper, I'd strip a part of the cable and snip and twist the wires that needed to be crossed.

You could get a cross overcable at your pc store, and connect the two via ethernet; you could do this with a hub and 2 ethernet cables if you dont have a cross over.
