RadioShack Psx to Usb 9.99

Vega$

CAGiversary!
Radioshack is selling psx to usb adapters for 9.99 at thier stores. I went to radioshack.com , but there is no information about it, i cant find the link to it. But i bought one today, works perfect.

:D

I haven't used these for a while.
What's the compatibility and lag like? I can't remember.
(Mainly GH1 and GH2. I know Taiko drums probably won't work)

I got one of them last month, for $15 (so it's not a total loss, heh) and I can say that it works GREAT. I have NO problems AT ALL with it. It works with all of my actual PC games (Guilty Gear XX#Reload, Melty Blood, a few others), all of my emulators (though N64 emulation is difficult, thanks to button placement) and well, the only things it doesn't work with are things like dance pads and whatnot. I don't have the guitar controller so I can't check for that. Basically, it works with a regular PS1/2 controller, and uh, I guess it'll work with anything that doesn't require you to press two opposite directions on the D-Pad or Analog at once (like, well, a dance pad).

I just bought one of these today (model # 26-729) for $12 for the sole purpose of playing Guitar Hero 1 and 2 on my PS3.

It's... pretty good, but only in comparison to the other adapters I've tested.

I think this is better than the Pelican adapter, for GH2 especially. Once calibrated for lag (in my case, a whopping 71ms or thereabouts) it plays rather well. The strum bar is inverted (up is down, and down is up - not that it matters during play), and the whammy bar doesn't work. HOPOs and tilt are fine. I even beat some of my high scores, so it must be doing the trick.

GH1 doesn't have a lag calibration, so you'll notice the adapter's shortcomings there. I could play by strumming slightly in advance of the notes, but it wasn't terribly fun.

Thanks for that summary, xeex. You saved me the trouble of ordering another slightly-laggy PS2 adapter. My quest continues.

I only tested it out on final Drive Nitro, works great. About the rumble, who knows. I dont have any ps one or psx2 controllers with the rumble thing, i have to buy 2 today.

Compatibilty and lag? Huh?

xeex answered that question, so don't worry about it Vega$.

Also...I do not think that this adapter works with Guitar Hero controllers when hooking them up to your PC. I've tried with no luck. Just putting it out there for those who wanted to play homebrew songs on your PC.

try the program "Joy2Key". i don't know if it will work, but it works for everything i've tried it with.

are you kidding? this device was $5 when i bought it about 2 years ago. i even had a $5.00 coupon for radio shack so i got it for free. the rumble didn't really work though, but i used it for my ps2 controllers, psx controllers, guitar hero controller, and even drummania control to use with dtxpress.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I picked up a multi-platform converter from Walmart a little while back for $9.96. Three cents cheaper and it does PS2, GC, XBOX, & acts as a 2 port hub. Figured that for that cheap it might be worth trying out.

As mentioned, I haven't had a chance to try it yet -- package is labeled as "Gamemon Universal USB Convertor". Here's a link to the product page on the website listed on the packaging:
