08.09.06 - Ubisoft announced that the tactics-shooter Rainbow Six Vegas (PS3, Xbox 360) will also appear on PSP. It develops in the Canadian Ubisoft Studio in Quebec and will be released at the end of of 2006 in Europe.

The story plays parallel to the versions of the Next Generation consoles. However there are new, exclusive contents and characters. The player is in Las Vegas, where he defends the city as a member of Team Rainbow.

On PSP two new Rainbow members are added: Brian Armstrong works as fire support and an attack expert, Shawn Rivers is a sniper; in the single player you can play as fire support or sniper.

Ubisoft wants to make the controls perfect for PSP. Exclusive contents (i.e. concept designs, "Terrorist Hunt Mode") will open for good achievements. In the “terrorist Hunt mode” all terrorists must be killed, who appear at certain points of the single player maps.

Up to five players can play together or fight in the “Survival” - or 'team Survival 'mode online. In addition they investigate six classical Rainbow Six maps.

Anyone interested?

I have it pre ordered at EB. It's supposed to be in today. I'll post my impression after I've spent a little time with it.

Love Vegas on the 360, if the PSP can get the same play mechanics it'd be awesome. My major concern is that there has been VERY little press coverage on this game so I'm worried that it's gonna suck.

Could be interesting.. Really, really liked the 360 version, but the online play was the real draw, not that single player was bad. The unique vegas environment helped a lot.

Someone on the playstation.com forums has it....he seems like he's the only one who has it since no one else has posted impressions.

Some thoughts while playing it:

Holy shit, the cutscenes (game intro and chapter intros) look great.
Uses the Syphon Filter control scheme, works well.
Graphics aren't half-bad.
Checkpoint saves stop the game for a few games without warning, not good.
Missions seems to be cut up into sections.

So solid thus far?

I can't say with confidence just yet, but it seems to be pretty much like Syphon Filter Dark Mirror with more of a focus on stealth and a little worse in the graphical department. I wasn't a big fan of SF, but it's 7-ish good right now.

Well, I am a couple of levels into the game ( an airport level ) and I really like it so far. Controls work great, game looks great, feels like a Rainbow Six game. there is a slight hicup when the game saves but it's no big deal. Load times are fast. I have not tried multiplayer yet, but it only supports 2-4 players which is kind of a let down. I'll have to get back to you guy's on that.

Ooh, sounds a bit better than I expected for a portable Rainbow Six game...liking the positive Syphon Filter comparisons, too. Now if only some more reviews (minus those from the UK that have been out for months) and impressions can come out...

gamefaqs kids are saying there's only 5 levels and none of them are actually in casinos/the strip? WTF?

It's not a portable version of the console versions, it's a new storyline. It starts off with two of your teammates being kidnapped and you're going after them at this ranch/resort.

One thing I'm noticing outside of the halt when it saves checkpoints is that it stutters for a half second sometimes when I'm shooting guys. I'm still loving this game though.

I saw it and passed on it today. It looks nice, but I just got Syphon Filter for $10 and Crush looked so much better.

im online right now with it..... pretty cool to have a portable vegas

lol u got into a game for literally 10 secs and my battery shut off the psp.. i wish the damn psp would hold the battery charge better.. maybe its cuz i have a launch unit...i rarely use it but its always dead when i do want to use it

controls seem a lil hard..
There are 5 or 6 multiplayer levels, maybe they were talking about that.
Nope. There's literally five levels.

Each level is divided into three or more sections that are at least 30 minutes long. It works quite well with that set-up.

probably wait, it'll be $20 by christmas, if not less. PSP games get cheap so fast.

Make sure when you leave it for a while that you actually turn it off and don't just put it to sleep. And you might consider getting a new battery if it's really bad.
Is the single player any good?I'm thinking but I can't make up my mindon this game...
It's good, just not worth the $40 price tag. Definitely pick it up when the price drops.
