I finally decided to sell my Lost McFarlanes...4 figures and I had 2 of the Hatch "deluxe sets".

The hatch sets are fairly big when boxed. I put in the auction 8.00 to ship one because I had no clue what it would really be and stated if its more, its on me, if its less by more than 1.00 Ill refund the diff. I mentioned Id combine shipping and that Id aim for USPS First Class etc etc.

Someone buys both Hatch sets. I box em both up and take them to the post office for a shipping quote to the guy. Priority is 40.00 and change..parcel is 13.72.

I send the buyer the quotes and he basically comes off like Im trying to fuck him over because I said it was only 8.00 for one etc etc.

I took over a yr off from selling on ebay and Im starting to remember why I did that.

Always calculate your shipping rate before settling on your price or use the shipping calculator option for your auction. I had a hard lesson a few years back shipping out a Fallout 3 strategy guide and a Playstation console to either California or a Pacific military address--it was something ridiculous where a $15 order on each cleared about a quarter after shipping.

So now, unless I'm shipping out a light item which has a pretty standard rate, I often list how much I want to clear out of an item and give the buyer a shipping quote. You can't do them too many favors or you'll be out of business quick.

Because you are too lazy to check shipping prices before listing the item? You make it sound like Ebay is screwing you over, when really you are just screwing yourself. If you stated you will cover the cost if it costs more than $8 to ship, you are responsible. You are also responsible to let people know you aren't willing to ship to x or y location...whether it be in or out of the country.

Not taking proper precautions before selling on any website can land you in this same situation...it isn't Ebay's fault for your mistake.

Read the post again. Im not bitching about EBAY screwing me over and it has nothing to do with me being "too lazy".

1 shipping price was WAY overboard...and "combined" shipping price was still too much in their eyes but if I shipped them seperately, it would be more than theyre paying for combined.

Why would it be too much in their eyes? They are just paying $8 according to what you said earlier. It doesnt matter what it actually costs you to ship it, if you listed it as $8 shipped on eBay that is all they should be paying.

Either way, next time it is pretty simple to weigh whatever you are shipping and just go on USPS website and calculate posting for that weight/package size. Just calculate it shipped to whichever state would cost the most for you to send to and use that price when you list the shipping cost. Dont over complicate things the way you seem to be.

according to what he said it's 8 dollars to ship one and that he would combine shipping. it doesnt say it would be 8 dollars for combined shipping. he actually gave no quote for combined.

Send him the quote you have and just hope he doesn't pay and you can resolve the auction and get your fees back. I calculate all packages based on weight/location (and state so in every auction telling buyers to ask what combined shipping costs would be on specific items they want before bidding) and I can't stand idiots who bid/buy without even bothering to ask important details beforehand. $13.12 is still less than the $16 is would cost for both items individual S/H price so he is getting a reduced rate. There's been an influx of morons on eBay lately, more so than usual.

Are people missing the part where I said one buyer won both auctions?

Maybe Im not making myself clear so Ill try again...

each auction stated 8.00 s/h.

1 buyer wins both. I offered combined EXACT cost shipping of 13 and change vs 16.00. Their reply to my exact cost shipping was-

That's a far cry from $8.00 for one!!! And that's the exact shipping cost? If that's the exact shipping cost, you don't leave me much choice. Parcel post it is.

If anybody ever notices anymore the cost is Shipping and HANDLING. This being the cost for padded envelopes/and or boxes, popcorn foam, air packets bubble wrap with costs to transport to the post office for shipping. Live and learn i will from your grief
