Is anybody else going to try and "win" one of these on Friday? I guess it's not really winning but it's an awesome deal.

So far I've scored a coupon for up to a $150 gift card from best buy and a 25% off coupon at FYE. Not bad for doing a bunch of clicking.

I didn't want to post it in the deals section since it's not really a deal but a contest and you need an American Express card to enter.

edit: the 360 is gone, but today is Range Rover day. Buy one for $5000 and sell it for $30000 and buy all the 360's you want :)

Definitely not a scam... it's straight from American Express. They ran the same promotion last year, which is how I got my 20" flat panel Dell monitor for $385.

In fact you can go to: http://www.americanexpress.com and follow the link on the bottom right that says "My Life My Card"
 
they do this every year, they are slammed with people wanting them, you prob have the same chance of convincin best buy to sell you one for 150 as winning one for 150.

There's a link on the mylifemycard page that says: "Not a cardmember? Apply Here" I don't know how long it takes for them to process it though.

Essentially, yes... though there are only 200 available the entire day and you will be going against millions of people trying to do the same.
 
Yep, 200 for the day. You have to keep trying if it says missed it. People on FW have reported getting through 12 minutes past the hour. Like any contest it's going to be hard to win, but there is hope.

You can also save the following as an html document and have 9 frames open... Someone on FW created it and it works pretty well.

I looked away for 10 seconds to look at a CAG thread and didn't notice that I didn't get the typical "Try Again" return...I missed "I Want It!" by a good minute, I'm sure.

there was no method

i started clicking at 11:59 ---- got me no where
then about 12:10 the server wasnt as sluggish
I kept clicking from then and got it at 12:20ish

if you do get stuck at contacting server.. just refresh
no use waiting because everytime i won something it was an instant pop up

12:10? After my contacting server message disappeared at 12:03 or so, I clicked again and it said all units were in shopping carts.

Edit: Unless, like help1 suggests, you mean seconds.

the "missed it!" message means nothing sometimes people dont fill out the application and it goes back in the pool

lol, blame the mets all you want, but next year will be their year. (of course I say that every year, but whatever)

Just remember you have 8 minutes to fill out the form. I guess some people click on it thinking they can get one anyway and just don't have an amex card, or they have an amex card but have to go look for it. If the 8 minutes passes, the items are then returned to the pool. Good luck at 3 everyone!
 
I clicked on the link at exactly 12:00:00 and I still lost. It tried to contact the server for like 4 minutes. Only to tell me that they were out of it. Yet, someone here mention they were able to click on it and won at 12:20. Amex doesn't like me.

nothing for me... i kept clicking until i got the missed it error. then i kept clicking and all i get now is high demand.
 
I love Amex for contests like this, superior customer service, and awesome perks with their gold card. Fantastic company, every CC company could learn something from them
