There's not many games that I own that I don't see on that list, which makes me think that "rare" is a title that David Walegorski hands out liberally.

Bangai-O
grand theft auto 2
and Sonic Adventure 2 are all i know of.

the sources for this info came from an old Tips and Tricks magazine i had in their collectors section.

Powerstone 1&2 are both fairly rare.
I had to buy Powerstone 2 imported just to have it, couldnt find anywhere.

you'll have a hard time finding

Bangi-o
Mars Matrix
Project Justice
and the last few SNK fighters

oh and you'll be really hard pressed to find a copy of midway arcade classics Vol 2. It was like the second to last DC game to come out, sega.com didn't even know it existed untill some of guys the IGN DC board told them about it.

Edit: well, EB has the midway collection in stock so I guess you can find it, but I still say it's hard to find. Most people don't even know it exists.

In addition to some of those above:

Evil Twin(Pal) - Low printings, don't know the specific number

Headhunter(Pal) - kinda moot since there is a PS2 version
Ikaruga(Jpn) - kinda moot since there is a GC version

What about SF3: Third impact? Always see it commanding a decent price.

Bangai-o is rare eh? Nice. Bought a mint copy from a friend for $10 a few years back.
Sonic LE is pretty hard to get complete, being a BB exclusive and all.
Sonic LE was actually a Hollywood Video exclusive, not a Blockbuster one. Probably the rarest DC game out there though. I think they usually fetch at least $100 on Ebay if complete.

SF3 isn't rare, but it has a big following, and the DC was the only system to have it, hence the big prices. Now that PS2 and XBox versions are coming out, I think those ridiculous prices are going to come tumbling back down to earth, where they belong.

I've got the Midway collection, and got the only copy at Best Buy when it was first released. It can be found rather easily, but with Arcade Treasures out now, there is no point to owning it.
By Sonic, limited edition do you mean the sega all stars version, cuz i have that.

I feel special!!! :D
No, that's sega's equivalent to the GH/PH/PC of the current console's.

All of these rare games I bought for under $20 back in the day. The trick is to wait for the price to drop, but don't wait too long. Either that, or I bought those late Capcom $20 releases (Mars Matrix, Project Justice) right when they first came out.

The Dreamcast had one of the strongest libraries of any console...EVER. For the limited number of games released for it, so many of them are triple A titles it's not even funny...

It's sad that the DC is STILL underappreciated...just for that I'm going to put Seaman in and talk to my tv...

Thinking about the vast DC library makes me weep...Shenmue, Soul Calibur, Project Justice, Powerstone, Marvel V Capcom, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, hell I even loved Blue Stinger....

I don't really think Powerstone is rare, considdering it was re-released as a Sega All Star...

I think that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is fairly rare.

Anyone have a fresh take on this topic? Looking to bolster the DC collection but I was out of gaming when this system was live, so I don't know which are the better titles quality wise.

wow a thread from beyond the grave.. I saw bignick and punqsux and was thinking wow, I haven't seen these guys in awhile. First I went to the posted website and it was down...couldn't find it...then realized...oh this thread is 8 years old.

Without googling.

I recommend these titles. (not all rare)

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (Often considered the best version because of the DC/Arcade hardware)
Soul Calibur 1
Dead or Alive 2
Power Stone
GunBird
Crazy Taxi
Jet Grind Radio
Rush 2049 (good multiplayer)
Rare at the time titles (Last Blade 2, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Later King of Fighters, Record of Lodoss War) The neo ports were the best at the time, and first versions that were not significantly held back from hardware limitations) With the flood of ports and collections to the ps2 and xbox, I'm sure some of these have dropped in price.

Thanks for the reply! The only one I have from that list so far is Crazy Taxi. Had a chance to get Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 from a video store for $15 each a few years back when I was getting back into gaming. Unfortunatly I passed since I didn't have a DC at the time and I wanted the titles on PS2. Damn, that was stupid!

Here are a few that I have picked up in the past week:
Illbleed
Space Channel 5
Sword of the Berserk: Gut's Rage
D-2
Confidential Mission
Death Crimson OX

All of them are near mint. Haven't gotten the chance to play them yet, but they look pretty interesting.
