By rare, I mean hard-to-find, and not the company Rare.

Anyways, I'm a fan of all things Nintendo and wanted to have a list of games there were either rare or more collectible. For example the Zelda Collector's Edition isn't really rare, but it's quite collectible. And same with Cubivore since it got reprinted, but it's still worth something to collect.

I'll start with a short list and add on to it as people contribute:

Backyard Baseball
Burnout 2: Point Of Impact
Bust-A-Move 3000
Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest
Digimon Rumble Arena 2
Disney's Party
Disney's Sports Basketball
Disney's Sports Football
Disney's Sports Soccer
F1 2002
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
Gotcha Force
Hot Wheels Velocity X
Ikaruga
MLB Slugfest 2004
Monster Jam: Maximum Destruction
NCAA College Basketball 2K3
Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2 Plus
Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2
Pokemon Box
Rally Championship
Rave Master
Red Card Soccer 2003
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Shrek Party
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Top Angler
Worms 3D
Zelda Collector's Edition
Zelda Ocarina of Time w/ Master Quest
Zelda 2-pack Windwaker + OoT/MQ
*shrugs* Custom Robo?

I surely haven't seen it too often
I didn't know that was rare. I see that one all over the place. Just today at GR they had 2 copies actually, and TRU still has it on their green tag sale.

I haven't seen it at my local tru in a long while, and I don't remember seeing it at my local stores. I could be horribly wrong though.

Worms 3D? I'm not sure, but I know it still goes for around $20 used most places, and I don't usually see it anywhere.

Man, Burnout 2 is rare? My gamerush has had a copy of that forever.

What about that crazy muppet party game and another called...

Spells and swords, or Spirits and Spells, or something like that ?

i would consider burnout 2 semi-rare like most of the other games on the list...i see the Zelda games way more then burnout 2...mainly it took me a while to find one used...and i have at least 20 diff gamestops and ebgames that i can search in my area....also on ebay i believe they go for around $20-30

muppet party i see quite often cheap and spirts and spells is cheap as well...

GOTCHA FORCE, that's the game that I was trying to remember. That's an awesome game.

I've been looking for Digimon rumble arena for what seems like forever. I don't know how rare it is, though becuase I've seen it my local Meijer store new for $29.99. Many copies still there. I'm just too much of a cheap ass to buy it new.

I found a sealed Star Wars Rebel Strike 3 demo today. It's the LE Preview Disc with the original Star Wars Arcade game. Does this carry any value?

Okay I added most suggestions to the OP. Also, which games would you consider it being worth owning as a game? For example Ikaruga.

I don't think Ikaruga is that rare.

Bust a Move 3000 seems to be since I've been trying to find it for a decent price. If I remember correctly it was a Toys R Us exclusive for a limited time

damn, I could have gotten Monster Jam for the Cube a few weeks ago but got it for the PS2 instead.

and $65 for Jedi Knight? Crap, I could have snagged 2 copies of that a few months ago in the buy-1-get-1-50% off at Gamerush deal.

I didn't think Phantasy Star was rare, though. I've seen it countless times, even brand new some places.

Yeah it is....

FWIW EBGames has Burnout 2 at $25 or around $17 after coupons. I've been wanting to get this for a while but was waiting for it to drop to $10. I guess that's not going to happen.

I don't know if it was in the news (j/k) but resident evil was rare for the GC. I could never find it and it was going for 80 bucks or more. However it seems like about a month ago around here in Dayton everyone and their mom has used copies for sale. I also thought their was a small reprint?

Looks like GameCube will be a fun collectors console for years to come, with Revolution's backwards compatibility and the very limited release of quite a few games.

Rarity has very little to do with price.

Yes, it can be a factor in determining price if demand is also there, but a rare game with no demand for it will still be less than an uncommon game with high demand for it.

It can be less than common games with high demands for them, if the NES experience has taught me anything. Final Fantasy, Contra and other very common games command more than some very hard to find games for the system. This is because nobody wants to play Dudes with Attitudes when you can be playing Contra, for very good reason.

Hey, don't knock Dudes with Attitudes. :)

It may not be highly sought after, but I think Space Raiders had a pretty low print run - I know I had a little trouble tracking it down.

I second the Spirits & Spells, I've got a copy, but I have never, ever, never, ever seen it anywhere else.

Also, Ikaruga isn't rare as far as I know, it's just one of those games that people don't want to pay full price for.

For the guy who says Custom Robo is rare, no way no how. It's a Nintendo published game, Nintendo doesn't short print their stuff. It wasn't a good seller, though, so it never got Player's Choice status, but if they were smart they'd put it on the case anyway, and hope that that makes it sell better.

Spirits and Spells may be rare, but it can be had for around $10 shipped on Ebay.

And whoever asked about the Star Wars preview with the original Arcade game on it - no, that's not remotely rare, at least not for a demo disc/promo.

Nobody's mentioned Goblin Commander yet?

Also, I believe Tom & Jerry: War of the Whiskers is pretty hard to track down.
