Ratchet & Clank Future: ACiT - Gen. Discussion & Info

I went to the community day too...just wish I knew I didn't have to get up as early as I did.

btw, do you guys know whether free game giveaways have happened at previous events similar to this, e.g. Insomniac's Resistance 2 day or the more recent Uncharted 2 day?

didnt enjoy the clank demo.
the whole useage of time as far as hes concered was kind of annoying. seems like alot of the shit they want you to do could be easily handled by on top of a switch. also as far as the diff weapons theyve shown for ratchet most of them seem like the sos but diff in ways.

Yea, I showed up around 10, ended up in the back of the line, and still made it in. I figured they wouldn't turn anyone away :p.

I went to the Resistance 2 day, and they didn't give the game out then. Just a bit of swag (poster&shirt), but they did have free lunch ;)

Just beat the game today. TOTALLY AWESOME. I attended the Community Day and was first in line. Got all my Resistance stuff signed.
It's weird that plants give you bolts, as it messes with my collection OCD even more than the usual Ratchet games, where I try to break everything.
Same here, I was kind of disappointed that the Box Breaker didn't break everything destructible in the game like before. Made it a little more tedious to get everything. Your OCD will pay off, there's a gold trophy for collecting 1 million bolts.

Really wished I made that one. Kinda depressing actually.

so for those of you who are playing it is it basically more of the same but a bit better or is it a WoW holy shit kind of better?

i havent played the other ones before. i dont think its more of the same. its got great writing and cool weapons. the clank puzzles are definitely innnovative and require some thought. but if you're looking for revolutionary, i cant say it is. But does every game need to WoW holy shit better?

Or the age old question of does a game need to be WoW holy shit better to great? Crack delivers on what I said so far. Its good to great. GOTY? probably not. But i'm still immensely enjoying it. Crack suffers from the lack of a multimillion dollar ad campaign. But the game is solid. if youre short on funds, you can put off the purchase. But ratchet is one of those sony titles that rarely drop or takes a long time to do so.

Devil - that means you camped overnight? geez you and Inf almost live there. there's no need.

thats why i asked because i have played everyone except for 3 ( the psp one, the downloadable one for ps3 and the ps2 arena one). future tools of destruction felt like more of the same to me so if someone whod played the other ones as well felt like this one was more of the same as well id hold off on buying it once the price dropped.

It's called dedication my friend.

They actually had this game on the shelf at my local Sam's Club today, but when I took it up to the front, it rang up "Sale Not Allowed" The clerk got the manager, who confirmed they could not sell it, but gave me a $25 Giftcard for my trouble, since it was their mistake for having it up on the shelf (I was surprised at this, since I pretty much expected the standard "Oops, our mistake, tough beans you get NOTHING" from the manager)

im #1 on the leaderboards for My Blaster Runs Hot (MBRH) with 14,330 for the whole day. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

beat it on hard. it wasn't as intense as u2. but i thoroughly enjoyed it. so much that i was sad that there wasn't any more.

im going back to doing some cleaning up for platinum. but that rat tournament last level is insanely hard.

How are the trophies? Any misables? I kind of want this- but I keep reminding myself that I never finished playing "Size Matters", so i'm going to play through that before I make any purchases.

That's the only game in the series, I actually regret playing, but I did it mostly during my train commutes (back before I lost my job). Aside from Deadlocked, that was definitely not worth the price of admission. I've loved all others in the series.

Just finished this and
I didn't see anything in the ending that says there couldn't be any sequels. I kind of saw the ending coming once Clank and Ratchet reunite and both of them are against going back to save the Lombaxes. I loved seeing the 88MPH trophy when I finished the game. I noticed that Nolan North was the voice of Sigmund, which was surprising.
Is this game that short that you can basically beat it on day one?
its not that short. some of us have it for a few days thanks to IG. took me about 4 days doing moon missions on hard.

the trophies are kind of easy. one play through on hard gets most of them (beat story, collect all Bolts and Zoni, weapon mods, etc). another one on highest difficulty will finish it off. its not another 10K kills from r2.

Do I have to start with a playthrough on hard to get that trophy? I played through on medium and didn't notice that I was still on medium in my second playthrough until the second Clank section.

FriskyTanuki -
when you beat you know who at the end, did it give the option to go back in time to collect bolts and zoni OR start a challenge mode game? i don't know if beating on normal gives you that option of challenge mode difficulty setting

i saw that devil got plat or close. and especially beat that rat tournament last level with the rhino! cheater!

Both, which I ended up splintering my saves just in case. That ended up giving me two completions for the leaderboards, which could be a way that somebody could exploit if they want to be #1 for a long time.

I'm surprised they haven't made a gold statue of him yet. He's in practically everything that exists or ever will exist.

Yeah, I got the Platinum. Possibly first in the world too, but I'm not too sure. I didn't beat the Raritanium Tournament with the RYNO V though, I didn't have it yet (I beat all t

Sorry if this was asked, but can you just download and use someone elses save file from the previous game to get the rewards. I might have some backed up on my PC from when I had the game but I know they aren't on my PS3 any more.

i downloaded saves from gamefaqs. it didnt seem to do anything.

i think the best line in the game is, "Why can't Mr. Zurkon kill the cute fongoids?"

Got started on this tonight. Damn I love this series! Captain Qwark cracks me up. Not very far in but will probably play a bit more before bed.

Love to complete every single optional mission for these games, but some of the rewards are total garbage.

Some of the weapon mods are nice, while others are simply useless. Too bad you can't really tell which ones are worth your time versus others, until you've found them.

I beat the game last night on Hard mode. It's a pretty good game. On Hard Mode, you take damage and the bosses take no damage. It's not as hard as it seems with this combo:
Groovitron, Rift Ripper, Ryno

Right now I'm going through Challenge Mode on Casual (I went back, did everything, switched it to Casual, beat the final boss again, and started Challenge Mode) so I can get the Platinum. Trust me when I say it will get me the Platinum Trophy. In about 90 minutes, I'm already halfway done with it.

Yea, once you know what to do and where stuff is, it's a breeze + the fact that you already collect everything in your first run so you just stick with the main story.

I just need Treasure Hunter & What goes up... to complete the skill points then I'm finito.

I got all the Skill Points a few days ago in case you need tips. I'm going for absolute 100%, like I do with all the Insomniac games. So, max weapons, max bolts, all items, etc.

I know what the last two skill point tasks are, and I've already maxed out everything, so it's all good.

Nm, just got "What goes up..", so Treasure Hunter, and I'm done.

Treasure Hunter is a pain, there is a ton of Camo Crates. There's one under a waterfall, very hard to see.

Yea, I feel like I've looked everywhere too >_<

Flawless wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Btw, if you're looking to max out weapons quick,
the best part is fighting the invasion of the fongoids land (the one you get stranded on). Just kill the enemies there and kill yourself right before setting the chief free.
I did that and racked up bolts real quick + leveled up weapons fast.

I heard some rumors that this is the last R&C game for the PS3, but the PS4/PSP is a different story.

Either way, I'm way physched for Resistance 3.

I am about to start the game up and was wondering the same thing about the trophies. Also, what's the best way to go for the platinum?

Trophies are really easy to get. Best way to get the Platinum goes as follows:

- Playthrough 1 on Hard difficulty, getting everything along the way; beat the game, then choose the left option after the credits.
- Switch the difficulty to Casual and get the Super Secret Boss Trophy
- If you've done everything except beat Challenge Mode at this point, while still on Casual, beat the final boss again, then choose the right option after the credits to start Challenge Mode.
- Challenge Mode will take about 2 hours if you skip Clank puzzles and cutscenes.

You don't have to beat the final boss again if you choose the left option.

After you're finished doing everything and want to go on to challenge mode, just select options from the pause menu, and challenge mode selection will be there.
The game is really fun. Hopefully this isn't the end of this series.
Both of you are wrong. It has been confirmed that ACiT is the end of the Ratchet and Clank Future series. Not the end of the Ratchet and Clank series. All it is a new suffix.

whats the deal with the quick price drop on this game? it came out last week and they just recently dropped it 10 bucks. is it not selling well or as well as they expected? what are he numbers for it so far?

I think it is more just retailers trying to drum up holiday business. Uncharted 2 can be had for 49.99 as well (and many other brand new games), and we all know that has been selling gang busters.

I would think so as well. But, retailers are trying to entice a lot more pre-BF to get people on good deals and not ZOMG deals. For example, retailers would MUCH rather get you at $49 now as opposed to all the $39s you know will be around on BF.

I got Tools of Destruction from Amazon yesterday. Going to play through that in order to get to my copy of Crack in Time. :)

Well, I tried that, and when I did it, I switched the Casual before-hand, then hit Challenge Mode, and when I got to a certain point, I checked the difficulty, and it was still on Hard. Lucky for me I made an extra save.

I checked the difficulty, it said hard as well, but I kept on playing and it gave me cred for the challenge run :p

Finished my first play through last night. Overall very entertaining game. Some of the cutscenes had me cracking up. Quark is hilarious as usual.
