He's pretty low on the totem pole but not the worst. I'm not saying he won't be the worst but im not going to hammer the nails (coffin or crucifix) before his term is over.

7:30am-3pmish M-F, Weekends off, no overtime, no cut hours because it's slow, lots of paid sick leave days, paid holidays, summers off unless I want to work during the summer, paycheck throughout the summer too :)

In VA, the average teacher salary is [SIZE=-1]$43,823. I wouldn't consider that great, but to say that someone else's job has a piss poor salary compared to yours is a bit of a strech.[/SIZE]

See I am glad I am a Computer Graphics Teacher , because it's next to impossible to find someone to replace me because not many people know how to teach it in the county. Now if I was a General Education teacher, that would be different.

Yea using the large amount of days the county gives me use when I want (as long as it's not during major test days) or not being able to use them the following year...hmmm..tough choice mkye...

General Ed is more of a death trap these days as you have to deal with SOL (or similar depending on the state) and other tests because of Bush's brilliant plan of No Child Left Behind Act. Most teachers in this state hate him because of this because not only is it harder to become a teacher out of college, but it's even harder to remain a teacher because you have to constantly go through recertification classes..most of them is not provided by the county and have to pay out of pocket to get them done and the county barely pays for it. This is why the average career of a fresh out of college teacher teaching general ed is about 3 to 5 years before they quit or move to something not related to teaching like technology support. Think of it as those credit card, pre-orders and so on retailers tell their employees to push on people... if their numbers aren't what they expect them to be, then they are out. See I don't have to deal with this shit...but do have to expect budget cut backs if my school under performs in General Education area which means less equipment, less supplies and more out of date software/hardware for the following year. :( Title I schools are a nightmare when it comes to budgets and technology.

That's why I like being a teacher in Chicago...we have a decently strong union, and we hold on to all of our sick days, and we get paid for over 250 of them ...255 I think... (if we still have that many when we retire) at full pay...so you aren't tempted to take them for no real reason.

I am talking about public education level. SOL's don't effect colleges... you pay to go to classes, if you fail, doesn't matter because they keep your money.
