RE Outbreak - Why is it so cheap?

PsyClerk

CAGiversary!
I briefly considered picking up Outbreak even though I haven't been inclined towards any RE games since 3. However, even though it's $50 usually in stores, I see a lot of places online, especially those on Half.com, selling it for as low as $30. A suprising lot of those are new. What gives?

They're probably cutting you a break since they know you'll have to shell out $100 for the PS2 hard drive to make the game playable.

Short answer, because it sucks

Long answer, It sucks because you need to spend another 100 beans to make it payable.

haha sonuds true. I heard the game loading time was horrible without the hard hard drive.

I prefer:

Resident Evil: Please wait. . .

At least Capcom could have thrown in a generic Pong game or something to help you kill time while waiting to play (like the last Test Drive game).

Bah, it's not even like Capcom couldn't have prevented it or something. THAT'S what pisses me off :whistle2:\ Oh well, at least I didn't buy it

*waits for RE4*

Plus another $35 to play online

I have it and the hard drive and the load times aren't bad at all.

I sure wish some people would actually PLAY games before they bash them.....

Blah blah... I have the game and have been playing it since it came out WITHOUT the HDD. I'm not a "Resident Evil fanboy" (though I do love the series.) I played the game before I read about people complaining about the load time, and at first, yeah it was a little frustrating. After continued play though I have to disagree with all of you. The loading isn't that bad at all. Just think of the load times from Resident Evil 2 minus the door animation and that's a pretty accurate picture of what you have here. There's SO much to the game that you're ignoring simply because you're too impatient to wait 10 seconds for something to load. It's not that bad, and it's a lot of fun.

Even moreso for fans of the series.

Sheesh guys the loading times arent that bad...sure they are longer then I'd like but the gameplay more then makes up for this. I really enjoyed the game and I would recommend it to friends for online play have yet to play it single player though.
so if you buy the harddrive....all games load a lot faster?
Honestly, the loads still aren't so great, even with the HDD. I only played it for a few hours with the HDD, so I can't say how it is in relation to playing without, but the load times were about as poor as they've ever been, just without the door opening/stair climbing cut scene played in between changing rooms.
That said, I still enjoyed the hell out of this game. If I had the HDD, I'd pick this up. But since I want nothing to do with FFXI, I won't be getting that, or RE:O.

the games can sell for $30 because there was a $20 MIR at FYE and stawberries, ect.. and people would probably just be happy getting their money back

Does anyone have experience with this game with an installed HDD? I already have an HDD and I might pick this one up for $20 or so, since I know it'll go down even further before you know it.
If only the HDD was a lot cheaper :( I wish you could use any old hard drive with the ps2.
Well technically..you can. You just need to jerry rig it a little.

While the jokes are quite funny, the load times are greatly exagerated.

I timed it myself, 15 to 20 secs per load screen, roughly half that with a HDD.

It just so sad, RE:O is a pretty good game, but because of some petty short comings, everyone hates it.

Yeah, it's a good idea to add pong, but then again you'd probably have to wait for the loading times just to wait for the loading times if they added it in.
