Re-Play Games

Does anybody know anything about this chain. I noticed that they were opening a store in Collinsville Va. Collinsville is just outside of Martinsville. I was curious to know what anybody thought of them. There is no EB or GS in the Martinsville area. This will be this they first Video Game specialty store in the area.

my brother works at the one in Roanoke and helped open the one in Radford, i personally dont like them, they rip you off worse than GS or EB on trade ins, and they charge way more for used than either place also.

Trade ins, if you opt for cash they deduct 50% as opposed to gamestops 20%, and most used games stay hella expensive long after the game prices drop. again i dont like them, and i can even use my bros discount, and its still a rip off IMO.

man i thought this company went belly up long time ago

i think they used to be hooked with music go around *used music store*

we almost opened one of these stores back in the mid 90s but when we got the contract we had to laugh at their Insane fees and how much they demanded for their cut of the profits (think it was like 60- 70% they got)

Yeah, I noticed this a few days ago. They just finished a new building that is going to have Domino's Pizza and Re-Play there. I don't know when it will start up but I'll give a report when it does. This is the first gamestore in my area and it is really needed. I usually have to go to Danville to EB or Gamestop unless I trek to Roanoke.

Does anyone know if they have a website? I have been trying to find contact info but can't find anything. The space they have for their store is still empty and they don't have anything indicating when they will open.

I actually ran into a Re-Play games by chance in the Salem/Roanoke area a few weeks ago. I asked them about the store opening in Collinsville and the guy said that it would probably be in June or July. I went by the new store and they have the fixtures up so I guess they are just waiting to get stock in.

The store in the Roanoke/Salem area I went to was pretty nice actually. The prices seemed reasonable to me. They also had a decent PS1 section.

I was googleing, trying to find the website of this chain but didn't expect to find a thread on the exact same store I went to lol so I thought I would register. Reason I went by was because of all the "Now Hiring" signs outside and it seemed like a good place for a first job :D but nobody was inside even though all the lights were on. Oh well guess I'll go by later.

They must have just put those signs up. I didn't see any earlier this week.

Alright, I just got back from the store opening.

Newer games and systems...

The store is a little small but everything looked really nice. They actually had the PS2 section broken up by genre; RPG, fighting games, action, shooters, adventure. That was a really nice touch. The didn't have it like that for the XBox or GCN though. The 360 area looked nice. They had a pretty good selection of pre-played and new games.

The older games....

They had a section for PS One and N64 games. It was a small section, but kudos for even having one considering the limited space. IIRC they did have Smash Bros. and Ocarina of Time for $4.99 cart only though. Not bad at all.

DVDs....

They had a pretty large section of DVDs, both pre-played and new. The prices seemed a little high on some of the new box sets but the used prices were decent from what I could tell. They have a buy 2 get 1 deal on preplayed DVDs.

I didn't see much anime though.

Accessories...

I didn't take a lot of time looking at them but the have most all the accesories a person would need. I do remember they had some of the SF Anniversary controllers (at full price though, not on sale like Gamestop). They also had some MK controllers, and 2 DQVIII slime controllers (those were $39.99). I think they may have had DOA4 sticks too. I remember seeing a big DOA4 box of some kind.

Hardware....

They had pre-played systems for Xbox, PS2, GCN, PSOne (both models), DS, GBA. They may have had PSP but I couldn't get to see everything since it was really crowded. I do remember the pre-played PSOne models were $29.99.

Oddities...

They had three sealed Robotech Battlecry Limited Editions for $14.99. For some reason that seemed weird to me. If I wasn't cassh strapped I would have bought one.

Kiosks...

They had a 360 kiosk and a PS2 kiosk IIRC.

I ended up purchasing one game while I was there, King of Fighters Neowave for $19.99. This was awesome because now I don't have to go 30 to 50 miles to find some of the games I want. When I made the purchase with my CC, the bottom of my receipt said I can get $5 of my next pre-played purchase of $10 or more. Good deal. Here's a scan so you can see what I am talking about.

I don't know if this is just for the opening day or not though.

All in all, a good experience. :)

Alrighty, I traded in some stuff just now so I'll post the trade-in values anytime that I trade anything....

Game

NCAA Football 2006 (Xbox) - $9

DVDs

Batman Beyond: School Dayz and Spellbound - $1.50
Matrix Reloaded (WS) - $2.25
Matrix Revolutions (WS) - $2.25
Around the World in 80 Days (Jackie Chan movie) - $2.25
Three Stooges Festival - .50
Three Stooges Funniest Moments - $1.50
Steve Austin/Cactus Jack: The Early Years - $2.25

I was pleased with the Xbox price. That was more than I was expecting and only $3 less than what I was looking for on my trade list. I figured I would get about $2 for each DVD and for the most part I was right. I think the trade-ins I did were pretty fair.

I ending up getting a used Ninja Gaiden Black and Aliennine (anime DVD).

NGB was $24.99 and Aliennine was $7.99. I was able to combine my $21.50 credit with my $5 off pre-played coupon and only paid $8.13 after tax.

I haven't written anything on this in a while. I've been driving by it this week. I haven't gone in yet. But i probably will before this weeks over. I also saw a van from the Movie Starz video store chain there a few weeks ago. I believe that they're based in Roanoke. So, Replay may be owned by the same people. I haven't been ablr to find a website on them either.

I believe you are correct about the m being Roanoke based. I asked the person working in Roanoke the day I went up there, and he said they do not have a website.

They had a used copy of I think Digital Devil Saga 1 for $14.99. I can't remember for sure, but that seems right.

Well, I just went by today and the store is closed. It's a shame because they were really awesome for DVD's and they resurfaced all used games and DVD at the time of purchase.
