React S-Video @ BB B&M

kloda

CAGiversary!
Today, I saw the React S-Video cables for the Wii in stock at the local BB. I'm sure the component cable will be better but would the S-Video cable still be better than the composite cable?
The difference between S-vid and composite is hardly noticeable IMO.
It's very noticeable with my 360. it's a lot more colorful and smooth.

Oh, it's very noticeable. Less jagged edges and the color seperation should be much improved.

Thanks for letting me know, I've been looking everywhere for them since I'm using my second composite for my Tivo and the other is S-video for everything else (running through my receiver), I'll swing by later.

It says $20 on the BB website where it still says "Coming soon". I wish they were cheaper, but maybe there's a reason to pick up one of those GGC's now.

S-Video is a pretty big leap over composite on an SD TV. Component is not much of a leap over S-video on SD TV (or at least on my 27" Sony Wega, maybe more noticeable on big screen SD TVs).

Of course if you have an HD TV the component cable is the only way to go.

I could go Component on my TV with the Wii but I only have two sets of Component inputs, taken up by the cable box and Xbox 360. I may have to get one of those switch boxes.

I bought the last set at a Best Buy in San Jose (Blossom Hill/Almaden) they were $20, but in the end well worth it, but nowhere near as nice as my Monster Cables as I found out when I tried to disconnect them and had some trouble because of the rock solid connection. The React cables slipped in rather easily. :( Still, since it's more of a convenience thing than anything else, I'm happy.

Found the React S-video cable at my local BB last night and picked one up. Haven't had a chance to hook it up yet.

They also had React Component cables and Psyclone component cables (think those were $24.99 and $59.99 respectively).

Got mine hooked up and they work great.

Picture is nice and crisp on my 27" Sony Wega, definitely a big step up from the composite.

No issues with the sound, so not sure what problem the above poster was having. Probably either got a bum cable, has a loose connection, or is getting some kind of interference (I doubt these are the best shielded cables in the world).
