Ok, I need the cheapest Halfway decent graphics card you guys can find. At least a 128mb. Ive finally gotten tired of the built in 64 shared graphics on my motherboard. Thanks in advance

*EDIT*
OK update time!
I decided to save my money and now have upwards of 150 dollars to spend on a card. Right now im trying to choose between:

Apollo AGP 6600GT Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814140048

PowerColor Radeon 9800SE Video Card
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=6315644

SAPPHIRE RADEON 9800PRO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102281

Can anyone help me decide? I'm lewaning towards the Apollo, but opinions always help!

You gonna help us help you?

AGP? PCI?

How much is "cheapest but decent" in american dollars please.

Give us a clue man.

Please be sure you actually have an AGP port, lots of computers with onboard graphics unfortunetly don't.

look up the AGP 128mb ati radeon 9200. I have the pci version and it ran doom 3 and half life. not on high settings but hey it was good. But be warned do not buy it if u wanna play battlefield 2 it doesnt work for me, maybe because mine is pci but im letting u know

Refurbed Radeon 9100 @ $35 shipped free. The only better deal you will find at this cheap-ass of a pricepoint would be perhaps finding a used/refurbed GF4 Ti4200 @ about $50.

A 9100 is an 8500 that is clocked a tiny bit slower. It will run Doom 3 albeit @ low rez. Much better than the 9200/9000 line.

I put one of these in my wife's PC to replace her 8500 with a failing fan.

heh thanks guys/gals (if any). I was half awake when i posted this.
I have both AGP and PCI so either will work (i built my compy from the ground up)
and by really cheap ass i meant
Go agp if you can.
Yea but at this point its all about price range and some quality. Ive seen some crappy ass video cards.

But agp has more bandwidth and pci has a really poor selection. For that price point, you can get a better card if you go agp. An ATi 9200 agp 128mb refurbished can be had for under $50. I would suggest an Nvidia ti4200 if you can find it for under $50.

I'm gonna get a 6800GT soon, so I need to sell my old card. I have a EVGA FX5900XT for $100 if you're interested.

Edit: Nevermind, I see that you're only spending less than $50. But drop me a message if you're interested.

That card is an amazing deal at $100.

Geforce 5 series was underwhelming. If you're willing to splurge, watch for the 6200s, they've been dippng pretty low lately.
Might just grab this one and be done with it...unless someone can convice me not to..
Well, its about two years old and is severely underpowered, and its on ebay.

well most 128s will be two years old... at least in my price range..
... I am looking for the same exact thing as this guy is except I need it for PCI.

this thread seems to be helping gamemasterjd pretty well.
Im so loved! hee!

True... but it was also considered outdated the day it was released. They day it came out it was bottom rung, time hasn't improved its standing at all. Go with a 9600-9800 and you wont regret it.

If you had more than $50 to spend, I would definitely recommend something better than the 9200. However, like Akkis99 said, it can run Halflife 2 and Doom3, just not on the high settings. I upgraded in order to play Battlefield 2, which this card will not run. The auction is currently only $10 (+ $10 shipping), and I doubt it will go over $20, but you never know. Good luck to anyone decides to bid. I'm sorry I don't have anything to offer a CAG as a bonus.

PCI-Express is better. AGP is swirling the drain. You want to tell me AGP is better even though the only version of the GeForce 7800 GTX is PCI-e?

Also, you cannot have both AGP and PCI-e... PCI is NOT the same as PCI-e.

And for the love of god, stay away from the SE video cards. Cheaper is not always better, in fact, it's never better. Though, once you start getting really good parts you have to upgrade the rest of your computer in order to eliminate any other bottlenecks.

IGN said to expect an AGP version shortly because while it has not been announced, the technology that Nvidia is using allows for them to easily make a similar card from their PCI-e cards

well i have a regular 6600 AGP card for sale in the CAG trading forum. I only used it for like 2 days, so its basically brand new with retail packaging and software. I'm only asking $90 for it if interested.

The Nvidia 6600? Thats not a bad price at all seeing how the 6800 is going for about 500 still.

Get a radeon 9500 Non Pro with L shaped ram, use omegadriver's drivers to softmod the card to make it perform just like a 9700, spend 50-60 bucks and call it a day.
