Today (9/6) is the shipping date listed for Rebelstar Tactical Command, the new X-COM-esque GBA game published by Namco.

Rumors abound about small shipments, potentially just enough to cover pre-orders and then one or two more.

Anyone seen this in stores yet, or being a smaller title, will we see it later this week?

thanks for reminding me. im picking it up definitely as it was done by the Gallop brothers and $20 to boot.

sheesh..I forgot how we get flooded with games starting September. Nice price tag too.

Please no rumors of small shipments..I am a sucker for that!

Game I am interested in + small ship = Must get!

I've been thinking about getting this game, and the $20 price pretty much seals the deal. I might wait for a few reviews from websites or CAGs.

I am very doubtful about this, espically since their other niche game Sigma Star Saga got shipped to every retailer under the sun, and I have seen quite a few ad's for both games.

Wasn't Rebelstar Tactical Command made by the same team who made X-Com? This is the only reason I'm considering it.

Same here. An average score of 7 or up will seal the deal.

wow, I hadnt even heard of this game coming out. I loved the orginally X-com. You guys that pick it up soon, let us know how it is. I'd really be interested to see if it is as deep the X-com game.

that looks pretty sweet. Hopefully they let you drop bases down and research stuff like they did in X-com. I also like that they included the "Fire at anything that approaches" mode from the other game, that was always helpful

They don't. Gollop, the team who made RTC, made it clear that the GBA was not technically capable of doing all of that plus having a tactical game like XCom's.

RTC is closer to Laser Squad Nemesis than X-COM.

ah thats weak, how hard could that have been? Its not like it was all that graphical, it was mostly text stuff

for the longest time I thought this was going to be a DS game, and I wondered for a while why it wasnt showing up on the soon the be released DS list. I figured, someone understands that strategy with a stylus makes sense.

It's more of a problem with RAM than storage. There just wasn't enough memory to track all the hundreds of things that could be going on, and then have a rich tactical game on top.

I'm so out of the gaming loop as of late. I hadn't even known that such a game even existed until I saw this thread. Thanks OP, the price is too good, and I see that it is related to X-Com in someway, so now it shall be mine if I find it. Great, time to spend more money.

No research I've seen so far but there is a "Fire at anything that approaches move" it's called "overwatch" what you do is just face your guy where you want him to watch leave him AP's and select overwatch and there is a thing for intiative and one for accuracy then end your turn tada.

Fun game so far

The guy at the EB I stopped at last night said they only got one copy, and that I should have pre-ordered.

I told him it was hard to pre-order if you don't know it is coming out.

Two Gamestops didn't have it either.

Will have to order I guess.

Looks cool tho.

Those should be interesting.

Ugh, was just at my local Best Buy and while their system shows that they have 4 in stock there, they couldn't find them on the floor or in back. :(

ok, picked it up at Best Buy. None on the floor, just arrived they said so they pulled it from back.

1. This game is not optimized or something. laggy when scrolling on the battlefield.
2. Gameplay was great-- I jumped in learning my X-com experience and felt right at home. controls are all intuitive.
3. The graphics are...umm...not as well as they could have been. Look at a recent sprite based game like riviera and then look at this game.
4. Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. The tutorial lessons are well done but bored the shit out of me.

So there, my 2 hour first hand experience. For $20, i suggest turn based nostalgic fans to give it a shot. For those just jumping in, ignore it. I personally am happy for $20.

Well, I have some great new news on this game. Seems that BB will indeed be getting it, actually they got it yesterday with their mysterious 3rd shipment for the week, but the game should be out on the floor tomorrow. Not many are going out though. I'm going to be picking mine up tomorrow after GGC of course.

I picked it up Saturday. It's a pretty fun game, but I'm not digging some of the battle rules. I don't know if it changes later in the game, but if one of your team members die in battle, you automatically lose.

But it lets you save anytime, so that eases the burdon a bit.

My Local BB have 6 copies instock with MSRP $19.99 but you can get it for $15 if you can find $5 off coupon Gift card (Most stores no longer carry this gc)
