My wife goes back to school shortly and we are thinking of getting a laptop both so she can take it to school with her, but also so while she is doing homework I can either still play on the PC or atleast use the laptop. Problem is I dont know enough about laptops/PCs to build my own and am even having trouble specing one out.

We dont need a big beefy laptop that plays the newest games, however besides doing her homework we would like a system that can at least run stuff like some older/less powerful games(for instance Plants vs Zombies, Diablo or Torchlight). My wife said she might be able to get discounts from HP or Dell through her work, but really we dont care where we buy it from as long as their reliable and we can get a decent warranty. We want to spend $500 MAX which naturally means if we can get something that fits our needs for $300 thats all the better.

So can anyone suggest some laptops?

honestly you should just be checking the sunday ads every week. you can get a decent laptop under $500 no problem from places like best buy or frys these days.

Got it narrowed down to several if people can offer some opinions.

First from Newegg the rest are direct quotes from a work contact that offered us some discounts over their standard prices

[quote name='RedOktober']If you can, try to find a laptop with a dedicated over integrated graphics card. Also search YouTube with the graphics card model name/number to find videos of games running on said card. I've included a link to that benchmarks video cards.

That's really unnecessary.

/nod that was why I posted the links. Was hoping people would say if even the cheapest one would run just these basic games or not.
