Hmm...if they would of had Master of Monsters AND Chocobo Tales at the nearby mall I would have went...unfortunately the only had MoM. That alone is not enough to brave the consumer madness. Thanks though OP, I'll keep an eye out for both of those, they seem worth $5.
 
Thanks OP. Never looked at chocobo tales, but I'll probably grab Master of Monsters.

And for those who like Rogue-likes, Shiren the Wanderer is a good title, especially for just $5. Don't let the american box art fool you.

Shiren the Wanderer deserves better than bargain bin at gamestop. It's a FANTASTIC game. Hardcore as hell, though. Pick it up if you want an excellent challenge.

good luck finding complete DS games anymore at gamestop. locally they were told to TOSS ALL DS boxes out to make room for more ps3 and 360 games

I'd be up for about half of those. Hopefully GS doesn't start tossing the cases to $4.99-and-under DS games like they did with PS2 games (though I know some of you have had GSes already doing it with all DS games.)
 
I agree that Soul Bubbles is a "definite gem", but it has been $4.99 new at TRU a few times now. Not sure what it's going for there at the moment, but you may want to check before you pay that for a used copy at GameStop.

I'm in for Mystery Dungeon, Master of the Monster Lair, and/or Chocobo Tales if I can find them, though I do insist on my games being complete with case and manual, so I'm probably out of luck. Given that, I'm not sure how much effort I really want to put into looking for them.

I was a big fan of Populous back in the Amiga days, so this was actually the first game that I bought when I got a DS. Unfortunately, I have to say that I didn't really enjoy it that much. I'm not even sure why -- it was a competent enough port of the game, though some of the new elements felt a little out of place. I think maybe the game itself just hasn't aged well. Still, for $5, it's probably worth trying out if you're into that type of game.
 
Mr. Driller was one of the original DS games I bought and it's pretty damn fun in short bursts.

I only got Zelda Spirit Tracks and Yugioh World 2010 so far.

People hate Gamestop for a myriad of reasons. To me, throwing boxes and manuals in the trash is the worst of the offenses.
 
Thanks OP! I have 3 Gamestops in my town and only 1 out of 3 doesn't throw away the cases and manuals for their used DS games now. I too will not buy a used game unless it's complete and in great shape. That store happened to have a copy of Mystery Dungeon today for $4.99. Awesome!

That was the first DS game I bought, before I even had a DS, over 4 years ago brand new at a thrift store for $3.

I haven't played it yet...

Soul Bubbles is pretty much the perfect DS game. Stylus+button control mechanics are spot-on and the game is hard enough to not feel like your breezing through it, yet never frustrating or boring.
 
How is masters of the monsters lair? Apparently the gamestop next to my work has a preowned copy and I would be interested in trying it for $5 (considering I get some type of box with it). I refuse to buy a DS game without some type of box, even if it is generic because I would have no easy place to store it.

I ended up biting on it for $9 from Amazon a while back. I left pretty unimpressed. I tried to like it. I really did. But it just wasn't that great. It's one of those games that, while it seems to be a good port of the original (I never played the original), it just didn't click with me. It was pretty depressing, too.



Thanks OP. Supposedly the GameStop I was at on Thursday has Spectrobes in stock, but unless they just got it in then the stock checker isn't right, because it wasn't in their DS game case. I would love to snag a copy of FF: Chocobo Tales for the DS for $5, but alas the closest GameStop I'll be to in the next 10-14 days that carries it is 45 minutes away. Oh well.
 
I'm terrible...I own Sprung...have played it all the way through and liked it. And have always considered going back and playing through as a guy the second time. I don't know why.

I also recommend battles of prince of persia...decent game.

Back when I first got my DS, there weren't that many games available to play. I found Sprung and got into the weird text-style game, despite how ridiculous it was. I played through as the guy and the girl as well. It's a short game, but it's definitely amusing.

Of course, that was early 2005. The game may not have held up so well, this late in the DS library. But for $2? Eh. Risk it.
 
I don't know about the other games on that list, but Soul Bubbles is for sure a must have. Check Toys R Us for a new copy before settling for a used one at gamestop though.

Mr. Driller is okay in short bursts, but there's just not much there. It's a concept that just isn't that compelling. I kept waiting for the depth to check in and it never did. I would not recommend it, as I believe there are better things to spend time on, even at $3.

It's made by the same people who did My World, My Way and recycles some of the components (but in a good way). I haven't played it, but my son (who is very picky) loved it and sunk a lot of time into it. It's inventive, charming, and a bit repetitive, but worthwhile.
 
Soo with all this good response to Soul Bubbles . . . im gonna have to get it!!! What is this game like anyways . . . the cover is creeping me out . . .aaaagghhhhh

Well, keep in mind that it's an arcade game that started life originally being developed as Dig Dug 3. You really shouldn't expect any more depth out of it than you'd get out of any 80s arcade game (even though it was developed in the 90s, it was definitely developed with an 80s feel in mind). If you approach it like that, it's not that bad (though admittedly, even in that genre, there are lots of other games I'd rather play). If you're looking for depth, yeah, you'd better look elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. Just walked into gamestop. Got the game complete with even the Nintendo warning booklet for $5. I then walked into Panera and apparently my My Panara card awarded me a free Frozen Drink today. Today is turning into an insanely good day. :D

Same here. Beat it with the boy and the girl. I kinda liked it. At $2 you have nothing to lose.
 
Well, I went in and saw it with my own eyes. The shelves of used DS games are gone, replaced by a locked graveyard of cartridge-only games. They're trashing the box and manual of every DS game that gets traded in. It is a sad day.
