I second that. Very slim, works great, has more features than I expected out of a 69.99 player.

Hook that up to a component/digital out connection and all my divx movies look and sound fantastic.

the cyber home one is 29.99 at Most bestbuy stores.

i bought 2 of them 2 days ago.

these same ones were 19.99 2-3 weeks ago at bestbuy.

they play everything and are progressive scan.
no divx though.

Alright people, now I have an XBOX that I have been using for DVD playing and the guys at BB said I should stick to that until I am ready to upgrade to something with DVI. So, what I wanna know is, do any of you have an XBOX or do you know if these DVD players are worth getting if you already have an XBOX?

P.s. Morpheus check your yahoo, I sent you a PM

Thanks for the heads up on the Phillips player. I have been looking (on and off) for a decent, cheap player, and this one looks like it will fit the bill.

....it plays DIVX? Finally, a replacement for my aging (though wonderful!)APEX AD-1500... I'm picking it up this weekend. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Quick question about the Divx...can you download Divx movies to a CD and then watch them on this DVD player?

Amazon.com Product Description
Tap into multimedia fun with Philips' broad-format, high-style, and ultra-slim DVP642 DVD player. The DVP642 is not only a high-end progressive-scan DVD player equipped to offer scintillating images on high-definition and HD-ready TVs, it's a tech-savvy player that spins your MP3- and JPEG-encoded recordable CDs (as well as Kodak's and Fuji's variants of the same) and CDs loaded with MPEG-4 and DivX video (3.11, 4.x, and 5.x files), perfect for viewing Internet-sourced content in your home theater. Want more? The player also converts Region 1/All Region PAL-formatted discs (the video standard in Europe) for viewing on standard NTSC televisions (and vice-versa, if only for video CDs).

RVRROCK, yeah, basically. Just burn a divx AVI (or a .divx file) to a CD and stick it in the drive, and it should work.

And where did you read that it doesn't play SVCD?

Also... who cares? (No offense. I meant that in a general sense.) The only way you'd be getting SVCD's (if you're me) anyway is if you are being a cheapass by not buying a particular movie or TV show (and/or super cheapass by not buying a DVD-RW drive) and encoding it to SVCD for high-quality viewing pleasure. Most things these days are encoded on DIVX, and with this player, you really don't need to convert to SVCD.
