I haven't played a FPS in about 2 years I think. I have the itch. I'm looking for something squad based. No solo hero thing. I need a great storyline. I was thinking Black Ops but reviews say your AI team are idiots and just stand there getting show.

Bonus points for online co-op modes.

Alliance Of Valiant Arms - Prison Break Mode - You and 3 chums try to escape a prison while prisoners are rioting. You have to find personal also and escort them to doors that only they can open...all while ever increasing in difficulty enemies come for you. It's free also.

Alien Swarm - Top Down Shooter - 4 Players - Awesome CO-OP - Not a FPS but I wanted to mention it also. It's free also.

Half Life 2: Deathmatch - There are servers denoted with either an RPG or CO-OP in the headings that have a CO-OP where you fight waves and waves of enemies all to take on the elusive GMAN. Not a deep storyline but it's a solid CO-OP experience. It's free also.

America's Army 3 - Black Hawk down map and Honor Guard maps are very well made. You have to rescue and escort survivors of an insurgent raid and hold down an area until evac arrives. Very difficult. It's free also.

Battleswarm: Field Of Honor - The entire storyline will scream Starship Trooper but many of the events and main matches are CO-OP that all lead to great storyline. It's free also.

CrimeCraft - Some of the missions here are CO-OP in the traditional sense - Where you need another player to do X while you do Y and another does Z in order to progress and fight even tougher bosses that lead to greater loot. Steep learning curve though as what you need to do is told before with little to no help once the mission is under way. It's free also.

Serious Sam, currently only $9.99 on Steam.
Excellent, excellent co-op games, but be warned that playing solo is indeed solo. No AI replacements in these.

I've heard good things about the Battlefield: Bad Company series, so you might want to check those out.

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are great co-op shooters as well, and on higher difficulties DEMAND teamwork, so you might want to check them out.

Team Fortress 2 is a robust team-based shooter, but just multiplayer, and be sure to join a server where it's not just people standing around trading goddamn hats.

And in case you haven't played it, Star Wars: Republic Commando is a very overlooked squad-based shooter that's really, really good. It's an older game, so don't expect amazing graphics, but the gameplay still holds up.

Does Borderlands have voice chat on PC?

What about Black Ops or Homefront?
Borderlands has voice chat.

Portal 2?

AI teammates in SP games are usually never adequate enough.
Any FPS that have good single player story and semi-intelligent AI squadmates?
SWAT 4 is a pretty good one if you haven't played it,also try out ARMA 2.

No one mentioned bfbc2?
That game experience is made by the multiplayer squads.

The single player is pretty epic too, complete with great lighting and graphics.
