Just wondering if you guys had recommendations for news magazines. I read plenty of news on the internet, but articles from Breitbart and the Independent usually (never) reach the same level of journalism found in Time and Newsweek... plus I dont like to take my laptop in the bathroom. I dont care if they are left or right, as long as they have good coverage and writing. And politics are well and fine, but feel free to recommend ones regarding science, economics, whatever... but mostly news magazines (hence the vs forum post).

he's still pissed (and rightly so) that you posted an article that you claimed you had read, Msut debunked most of it, then you claimed 'lawl i didnt read it i posted it for the lulz'

Anyway, I'd recommend The New Yorker.

I have successfully resisted the urge to go all Catullus on RAM, so yeah I vote for National Geographic, the Economist and/or Geek.

Businessweek is really good for financial and business news, particularly international news. Most of the other news magazines in this country however like Time, and Newsweek have devolved into reporting more on pop culture topics rather than doing any actual investigative reporting.
Are you going to actually read the articles or just post them here whenever you're having a bad day at work?
yeah, sorry about that. made the morning a bit better though.

i know what he meant. and i luld, thus it was worth it. i mean, i posted a random opinion article hoping id get a big reaction, and i got more than i expected between foc and msut, soooo

things like the new yorker and nat geo are things i know of and are considering, but thanks for the recommendations.

@msut, are you talking about geek monthly? i just googled that and they have twilight on the cover, but then a teaser for an article about the venture brothers, makes me quite torn.

Far as I know there is no Geek Quarterly, their pieces are almost always well written even on things like twilight.

p.s. Stop digging.

Seconded. Thorough news reporting, *global* news reporting (there are countries other than the US?). Downside is that I recall a subscription remains on the pricey side in a market where magazine rates should be depressed thanks to digital media.
The Economist and if you really wanna get crazy, the Financial Times.
Agreed with these. I especially like The Economist's global scope. Time and Newsweek are rags on life support at this time, unfortunately (I can remember when Time was actually worth reading, many moons ago I'm afraid). If you want something more U.S.-oriented, try National Journal (unless you want something more partisan).

I had a Newsweek subscription for a year that ran out recently. I like it a lot. Would have kept it, but I just don't have much time to read it. Kind of miss having it to take to the gym and read on the treadmill though.

Indulgent personal story:

When my wife and I first met, we had massive, days long debates about economics. She was a die-hard Euro-style socialist and I was an ultra-libertarian. The second day we knew each other, I showed her The Economist and dared her to find fault in their reporting. The following week, they printed a letter from her arguing against a story they ran.
