Recovering word Doc.

So I opened up word and started writing a paper and left for a bit without ever saving it, I guess windows decided to do some update and closed my file and now I cannot find a recovery file.  I am using word 2007.  Anyone have any idea?

Auto-save doesn't work if you haven't initially saved the file.  Always save the file immediately after you open it and auto-save will work as it should.

Agreed, if word crashes the tmp file can be found sometimes, method 5.  He/She probably just started over anyway.  This is a great reminder to all to turn on backup copies and save the file after initial creation.  I also try to make sure users have previous version enabled as well. Anything to help from starting over!

Thanks for the replies guys. I spent four hours trying to find the temp file with no luck. Then just started the paper over and finished it in a fraction of the time I spent searching for the temp file lol
