Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare out now!
so ign has a 360 review but not a ps3 one?
The IGN review for the PS3 is up now and it received the same score as the 360, a 9.7/10.

Its the same video for both. They haven't addressed the differences.

I guess the differences are minor. IGN looooooves to point out the differences. We'll see if GameSpot's review does or GameTrailers. I doubt it, none of these reviews so far have mentioned it.

didnt even have this on my radar.. but the review is too good to ignore.

Wondering if i should jump on amazon while the $20 is still there.

im surprised they didnt do that either since they usually do makes you wonder is it really that similar or are they avoiding mentioning it.

Just read this on Gamespot's message boards. The source is not credited but I hope to hell its true.

"We've played both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game and we can categorically state that - other than a 600mb install on the Sony console - they're virtually identical. Yep, Red Dead Redemption is a technical marvel on both the Xbox 360 and PS3, with stunning visual effects, efficient background loading and of course great gameplay throughout. Rockstar were unavailable to comment on our findings.

"Red Dead Redemption is a technical marvel on both consoles"
While some games suffer platform-specifc differences in terms of vertical-sync and refresh rate issues we noticed nothing of the sort in Red Dead."

FYI: For those going to a Best Buy midnight release, you may want to call that Best Buy now to see if they got in any packs of the playing cards. I just called the local BB that's doing the release and it was a no go on cards. Either they just didn't get them or employees hoarded the shit out of them after seeing their Ebay value.

yay my copy shipped today Super Saver Shipping.. Maybe I'll get it by Friday. Which is just as well.. as I just got Heavy Rain in from Gamelfy today, so that should keep my busy. :p

Mine shipped from Gamestop so hopefully I'll be playing sometime tomorrow evening.
Btw, 1Up reviewed the PS3 version and didn't mention any frame rate or graphics issues.

Mine shipped earlier today for release day delivery. Also, my PS3 repair shipping estimate has changed to being delivered tomorrow, so I'll be playing this tomorrow evening.
Decided to order this from Walmart.com so that I get the playing cards (love playing cards) and the $20 e-gift card. Estimated arrival date isn't until like next Friday though, which worries me, but even if that's true, that'll give me time to get through some of the backlog.
My walmart.com preorder from late april shipped out already earlier. However I chose the absolute slowest shipping. I hope it doesn't take that long lol.

Hope I get a deck of cards though.

did anyone pick up their game from gamestop? I'm just curious if they have the "special edition" they advertise on the website. mine still hasn't shipped yet, so i want to go buy it today then take back my online copy when it arrives, but only if they are the same version

I received my GS.com copy today. It was a special edition and included an outer sleeve and an DLC voucher inside. Also the soundtrack is a digital download and not a physical CD like the product description led you to believe. And it appears the Deadly Assassin outfit has to be unlocked by doing certain missions in-game.

Pre-order bonuses FTL.

I got mine today. Had a paper insert saying co-op missions coming soon, 6 missions that add hours of gameplay. Also came with a huge map with a picture of a woman on the back. Pretty sweet. Also you can unlock the gentlemens outfit by signing up to the rockstar social site and unlock it after you save in the game. I havent started the game yet though.

Lol. Yet still kind of disappointing. Guess that's how they save money. Digital download. I was expecting a physical cd in a cheap sleeve like they did with GTA4 at the very least.

The default picture on the ps3 seemed too bright and faded to me so I did the following fixes and it looks sooo much better. Give'em a try.

From the slider in the center position
Brightness: +1 click
Contrast: +2 clicks
Saturation: +1 click

I found this on arstechnica....

"This is non-scientific, but after playing an hour of both games, and switching back and forth between the two systems on our display, it's clear that the 360 version has quite the graphical advantage. It's sharper, with much less aliasing. The faces of the characters were clearer in the opening section. Gameplay sections likewise looked better, with smoother graphics across the board. The PlayStation 3 version looked impressive, but there was a noticeable jump in quality while playing on the 360.
Keep in mind that the game doesn't look bad on the PS3—not by any stretch—but based on our time with the game and direct comparisons, the 360 version looks better. If you purchase the PS3 version of the game you're not going to be let down, but if you have the choice, pick up a copy for the 360."

Looks like were gonna have to wait for a real comparison somewhere...:(

I decided to look into this game after seeing a ton of my friends playing this on PSN. Looks really sick, might eventually pick it up.

I just signed up for the Rockstar Social Club and linked my PSN account and this game.

How do I get the special outfit for linking all the stuff together? Are they going to email me the code or something?

It should show up after you save the game.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd rather trade someone a deck of the playing cards(that I'll probably never open unless I get an extra to keep sealed)for these pretty worthless DLC codes.

I'm sure any 'challenge maps' will be available on PSN eventually, plus I never even played the PS3 exclusive ones they had for Batman: Arkham Asylum. To me, as long as the main game is fun, DLC and other extra shit be damned.

Does anyone know how fast, and what mission you have to do the mission to unlock those guns that could light people on fire? I cant get on the social site, and i want to make sure i get this. Unless you can replay missions at any time?

Wow, my copy from Amazon says June 29th delivery lol.

does anyone know any major differences btwn the ps3 and 360 version? I have both and I'm not biased but would like to get the one that is considered "better". If theres no noticeable difference then I guess it doesnt matter.

Anyone mess around with multiplayer yet? Was just wondering how you can join a buddy in a game in progress if he's in an free roam or vs session. I've only seen the option for invite to session if you're hosting.

Also has anyone had problems logging into the social club? I was in there earlier when I linked my PSN account but it logged me out and when I try to log back in get "There has been an error, please retry!"

Ive been having errors logging into the social club.

As far as multiplayer.... i played a little. There was times where my guy would turn invisible. Then i lost connection and its been loading for like 3 minutes now. Guess its time to quit to my dashboard.

Hey does anyone know
where the little boy that is missing near the " Hanging Rock " is at ? I have looked for over an hour and there is no sign of a youngster in these parts . Any help would be great:D

check your map. There should be a big purple circle that shows up. Once you reach it, you'll see a purple question mark on the map.

Question:
What did you do after you "found him"? My journal doesn't tell me what to do next and his mother is gone from town. Just says that the evidence is inconclusive. Should I just wait until I see her again?

Btw, things started out slow but now I'm convinced this game is totally badass. The sheer amount of stuff to do and ways to make money is awesome and they're all somewhat entertaining, not to mention the outfits and sidequests to unlock them. I'm counting 16 total in my menu. I just did my first live bounty capture and what a rush it was! Definitely easier to just kill the bounty, but I needed the money. :D IMHO, this game totally blows GTA4 out of the water! Rockstar delivers once again.

Yeah nothings supposed to happen for awhile. When you "found him" the messge in the upper left would of said something like "you've completed your task but this mission isn't over. It'll resume some time later" or something like that. This side mission lasts awhile. Just go on about the game and you'll soon see an exclamation point where the mother originally was.

and yeah, I'm loving the game too. Feels so much polished compared to GTA4 and there seems to be allot to do. I love the random encounters/missions you stumble across.

So far ive only played about 4-5 missions and its pretty cool. Got some animals and skinned them, or plucked the feathers. The random missions are alright, i had one that said 2 prisoners escaped, i tried to get one and failed the mission. I found a treasure map, just shows two drawings... so it should be fun trying to find them based on those drawings. Opening chests reminds me of oblivion... lol. Cant wait to play some more. Finally i got some money to play games and stuff.

Found something interesting. If you shoot an enemies' hat off you'll unlock a sombrero hat for your Playstation home avatar.

am i the only one who is disgusted with Rockstar for how they handled ps3 version of the game. comparing it to 360 version is like comparing Call of Duty 4 Reflex on a wii to Call of Duty 4 on 360.

it looks gimped on almost every friggin screen i saw: http://www.allgamesbeta.info/2010/05/red-dead-redemption-360-vs-ps3.html

when i heard about lower resolution i though that it will be simillar thing to GTA4 where ps3 version had lower resolution and slightly worse colors, but this really doesn't look good at all.

I'm sorry I do not see any difference in those screenshots.

From what I read on SD, the pre-order codes (Gold Guns, Deadly Assassin, War Horse) are fetching ~$30 on eBay. It might be worth looking into. ;)

Sort of regret redeeming mine.

You and I brother. Hate to say it, but this is one game I wish I owned an xbox 360 for. Besides the graphics looking 5 years dated (and having the worst textures and screen tearing I've seen) the game is loaded with terrible bugs. I can't count how many times I've mounted a horse and my character disappeared completely to only reappear 10 minutes later. My character has a hat and sometimes will respawn without that or weapons. Got to love shooting what seems to be a rifle, but holding nothing. What about other players falling from the sky to their death? Yikes....

I don't really care about the graphics differences since I only play on a 26" 720P but if the PS3 is full of bugs, I'll be upset that I spent full price on it. Waiting for the weekend to see for myself.

I notice how the ps3 version is worse.

Like resolution and honestly the colors are a bit off, but that's pretty much it. It's being blown out of proportion. I'm used to PC gaming where I can crank the res and have it on high, if I can deal with it anyone can.

BTW CoD reflex to CoD4 on 360? Have you seen screenshots of CoD4 on wii? It looks hopelessly bad, I think you're just overexaggerating, alot.
Seriously, if at first glance I don't see it I am not going to stare at it to find it.
agreed. i personally dont see a big diff in the shots and i dont care. unless theres a huge diff in the way the game plays why does it matter? we all know when it comes to cross platform games they just port over so the ps3 version doesnt always fare as well. the one time i know that wasnt an issue was ff13.
So, my amazon order included a voucher for the golden guns in it, and I just got an e-mail with a separate golden guns code...
I got the e-mail code from Amazon, I hope when my copy of the game arrives there is another code inside the game box as well. Because I just sold my first code on eBay for $15! If I can sell another code thats another $15! The eBay sales plus the gift certificate makes it like I only paid $10 for this game! :bouncy:
