Red Wii and Red DSi XL coming to North America! $199 Wii, $179 DSi XL

Awesome, I recently started looking for these Nintendo handheld bundles for Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon.
Anyone thinks this is eventually be hard to find?

I saw this recently for the DSi XL and I'm very tempted by it. On one hand, I want an XL so this would be the perfect excuse, but at the same time I think I would be a lot happier with the blue. I missed out on the DS Lite a few years ago and have always wished I would have got that. Still a good deal for anyone wanting an XL that doesn't have Mario Kart.

@aTaRiFrEaK223, I really wish they would announce that as well. I would love to have all my Mario games on a current console again!

I'd love to replace my old Wii with the red one. But since Nintendo is too lazy/stupid to let me copy over the single-player parts of my SSBB, Mario Kart, and Animal Crossing saves... well that's hundreds of hours of games stuck on my old Wii that can't be transferred. :booty:

And since Rock Band/Guitar Hero do let you save the career modes, but not any online stuff, yes it can be done.

Nintendo released a Gold Zelda DS a few years back for the holidays and it sold out pretty quickly. If you check ebay a used one isn't worth much, but a sealed one goes for a decent amount. I don't know, but if you're that worried about getting it, then preorder it.

Well, my Wii has been acting up recently (randomly shutting off and on, all this weird stuff) so I'm looking to get a new one. This is actually pretty good timing. Plus, I should have something like $100 in Amazon credit then. I already have NSMB Wii though. I guess my friend that wants a copy could have it.

Edit- now that I think about it, I probably won't bite on either. The red Wii would look out of place, plus I'll have a Wii Remote Plus from FlingSmash if I buy it (and I likely will), I already have NSMB Wii and Wii Sports. So that kinda is a deal killer since I really don't need 4 Wii Remotes when I usually only have 2 people playing.

I'm looking for a DS/Lite/DSi/XL (probably more like 3 of them) and I would love the Mario Kart bundle, but I dunno. I really like the XL much more than the Wii bundle once I start thinking about it.

Yea, I've been looking all over on ebay and amazon trying to locate one. Those things are fucking expensive. I'm gonna pre-order a copy.

New Super Mario Bros would have been a more appropriate title for the 25th anniversary Mario DSi but MKDS is still a great choice nonetheless. And if anyone wants to sell that copy of Mario Kart that comes with it when you get it then feel free to pm me. :p

Yeah, they were pretty cool, my buddy has one. But from my knowledge Nintendo "Limited Edition" systems are hit and miss when it comes to rarity. I think there was some DKC GBA SP Target exclusive back in the day, that was a bitch to find. A lot of their newer stuff is easier to find, but then again these consoles may be picked up by el hordos.
..but still no announcement for a NA release of Super Mario All-Stars. Boo..!
I bought the Japanese version and am waiting for it, hopefully NOA will come to their senses and release it in the States and Canada.

Exactly! I do not own a Wii yet, but this is the one I would get. However, I think I can wait a bit longer if they choose not to include the Mario All-Stars game with the bundle that will see release in Japan and the UK, as there are still not many reasons enticing me to buy a Wii. But c'mon Nintendo, don't disappoint us!
The red DS looks absolutely awesome, but it's just too damn close to the release of the 3DS to warrant buying one. Oh well.
It definitely does! I've still got my original DS that I bought the week it was released, and it was not until recently that I started buying games finally for it and actually utilizing it. haha. I just cannot help but feel that it (the original DS) is way uncomfortable to play and that the screen is not good on the eyes after some time has passed. So, instead of rushing out to buy an updated DS XL, I've been waiting patiently for the 3DS. Aside from the suggested price tag (of the 3DS), I still do not understand why someone would buy a DS when the 3DS will do it all and more with far superior graphics?

i've wanted a black wii when it fist came out to match my xbox and ps3....plus it just looked cool. i think it's great that they come out with these great colors but i've purchased way too much dlc that is attached to my wii which sucks. i would have to repurchase all that content so i'm stuck with the one i have.....GRRRR!!!!
the red wii is beautiful...

then again I really like red :p
Ditto for me too:D. Look like the links for the Red Wii isn't working and i even tried going to the sites itself. Anyone else having this problem?
Is the Red Wii limited?
Probably about as limited as any Nintendo holiday bundle would be. Generally, you can still find them in stores until about mid-January and then they have been bought up by people giving them as gifts or people spending their Christmas gift cards. Frankly, I think the Wii will be a very popular bundle as for the same price as the standard bundle, you get an extra game, the Wii Mote Plus and a Nunchuck, not to mention the neat color.

Will Gamestop do some kind of DS hardware trade in deal? I don't really need to buy another DS, but if I can, I really want to trade in my DS Phat or DS Lite for the XL.

I don't have Mario Kart on the DS. The red DSi XL looks nice.

I don't have a Wii, been wanting a Wii for a long time.
I'm considering either black Wii with Wii Sports Resort or this red Wii with New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Do bundled games with the Wii usually come in their own cases? Or is it disc only?
If this is just a slip instead of an actual case I might pass on a red wii and just get one with sports resort.

The red wii looks awesome, I don't have a wii and have been wanting to get one.

The red DSi XL looks nice, especially since I don't have mario kart ds.

..eh, i personally think the red wii looks ugly...and would be out of place with the rest of my electronics. The red dsxl tho...cute! But I'm waiting for the 3DS....

I'm still waiting on my lime green Wii Nintendo..

It looks like cardboard sleeves for both games in this bundle.
surprised to see no one bitching about this being MSRP
You're getting NSMB, so it's like you're getting a $50 game free...that'll be good for all 4 wii owners out there who don't have it who want to upgrade and an incentive for those who do. Heck, that was one reason that pushed me into buying a wii...unfortunately, I never played it much after the first month

I feel like one of the 5 people to never have owned a Wii. But I am kind of a sucker for these editions. I've got the Retro NES GBA, the Famicom Micro and the Zelda DS.

Hrm. Temptation.

According to Nintendo's e-newsletter, the red Wii is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. As usual, Luigi fans get the shaft (no green Wii).

EDIT: Oh, I guess there is a green Wii. But it still doesn't match the L's overalls.

Luigi has blue overalls. And there is no green Wii.

Does anybody think this will be rare and possibly valuable in the future? I have $50 in credit on Amazon and might think of getting this just to keep sealed. I really love the look, but my white Wii still works fine. I think this would look great with my video game collection though.

Nintendo really needs to figure out the transfer of downloaded games and game files. This would be definite buy for me if I wouldn't lose all my games. One more expample of why Nintendo is working a generation behind. :bomb:

I want that green one. It's exactly the same color as the phlegm I cough up when I have a respiratory infection.:bouncy:

If you could transfer save files I'd get the Red Wii in a heartbeat. I'll just stick with my launch console for now I suppose.

Strange that the DSi comes preloaded with two Brain Age games and the Photo Clock. You'd think with it being a Mario anniversary special they would've put March of the Minis and the Mario Clock on there, but maybe they wanted it to be different enough from last year's DSi Mario bundle or something.

Good news is: New Super Mario Bros. Wii should go down in price, at least used.

Bad news is: Those who already have a white/black wii are probaly feeling pretty lousy... it never pays to be an early adopter. =(
