An important message

The recent news about problems with some Xbox 360 units is a genuine concern, and one Atomic Shopping has taken careful steps to address. A non-functioning unit is not a great deal - at any price! All the Xbox units we are selling have been tested individually at our facility. In addition, Microsoft is backing them with an unheard of (for game consoles) extended warranty replacement offer: If your unit exhibits the "red ring of death" (a catchy little term coined by gamers in the blogosphere), Microsoft will replace the unit at no cost for THREE YEARS from the date of purchase. Here's a link directly to the warranty update:

www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm?WT.svl=nav

Here's the important part (excerpted directly from www.xbox.com) : Microsoft stands behind its products and is taking responsibility to repair or replace any Xbox 360 console that experiences the “three flashing red lights” error message within three years from time of purchase free of charge, including shipping costs. All other existing Xbox 360 warranty policies remain in place.
is atomicshopping reliable? I'm kinda skeptical, what with the blatant lie about the typical price of a refurbished 360 XD
More reliable than geeks.com, I'd say. And I've done a LOT of shopping at geeks. The big difference is that Atomic will support you if you have a problem with the order. Unless something has changed recently, geeks is pretty hard to deal with if you need to return something.
Only thing you have to worry about is if the system itself is banned from XBL
It's a refurbished system, so Microsoft has worked on the system.

They say that, but I would like to hear it directly from somebody within MS, since these are refubs and unless they get them from MS directly to sell, which I don't know, they probably won't have any kind of warranty on it since it's basically a used system, second hand.

At the very least the warranty will apply from the manufacture date. So all the systems will be under warranty for at least another 15 months.
