Remember the Halo 2 LE at MTV.com for $38?

remember that deal a few months back if you pre-ordered the Halo 2 LE from mtv.com, after tax and shipping and all the coupons, it was $38.38. well, my game showed up on my doorstep Nov. 10 (i was surprised it was even in november, lol) but i was never charged. i was just going over my checkbook tonite and realized, they still have never charged me for that. starting to think i got away with it for free....

anyone else have any experience with this?
 
Your really lucky, for some odd reason MTV cancelled my order 3 days after I placed it. Those bastards refused to reinstate my order and that awesome deal dried up. I was considering creating a thread but I figured mine was the isolated incedent.
It doesnt matter though, I traded in four crappy games and got Halo2 SE for 17.50 after tax.
 
I think that MTV will charge you within the next couple of days. Especially after some MTV shop employee gets word of this discussion.
But please follow up in the next couple of days to us know if you all got the deal of the 21st century.
 
If it were me, I would write them a letter explaining that they had a problem with their billing process, with delivery confirmation. Chances are they won't notice the letter.

You got something you didn't pay for. You know you should pay for it. That's kind of like hiding something in the bottom of you shopping card (below the basket), going through the checkout and hoping the cashier doesn't notice. If you make it out good, but if you get caught you play dumb. My .02
 
They might just be late in charging you. Recently I bought a garage door opener from Sears and paid with a credit card and the charge didn't show up until 2 statements later. Stuff I bought after that showed up, but the garage door opener charge took forever for some reason. Hopefully you got lucky, but I am sure they will get their act together eventually and charge you.

BTW, I don't consider it stealing....their mistake. Not at all the same as putting something under your cart IMO because that is intentionally trying to get away with something from the start. In this case, he actually intended to buy it and they screwed up by not charging him.
 
Sweetness! Dont listen to the people in this thread that say this is stealing or that you should contact MTV. They are filthy rich and can afford to make mistakes like this + plus they dont play videos anymore since they sold out. Just consider yourself lucky
 
I wouldn't consider this stealing. Not your job to make sure they charge your CC. Worst case scenario is they realize they forgot to charge you and put it on the card eventually. If they wait an extremely long time you may even be able to call and complain to your CC company about it.

My gf bought something and wasn't charged for it until a month or two after the purchase. However she bought it at a B&M store that was having problems with their automated CC process and they were manually swiping everyone's card, so the delay at least had a reason.

What is that supposed to mean? There's little to no chance that MTV will happen upon the discussion. Are you trying to suggest that you or someone else has taken their own time to notify MTV of the problem? If so, lame.

And yes, you'll most likely be charged sometime soon, esp. considering at least one other person is experiencing the same.
 
just dont be mad when they find out and finally charge you for it weeks later (when you may not have the money to pay for it) but hey

I oredered mine and got in on nov 9th, that was some of the best service i ever gotten from a website.

Happened to me, too. I wish they would just take the money out of my account so I don't have to worry about them charging me when I get low and not realize it.

Hell no, all I’m saying is that MTV is owned by Viacom, one of the largest media conglomerates in that world, and every business transaction they take part in is recorded. If MTV's site administers don’t happen upon the error, Viacom's internal accountants will.
If you read my previous post you'll see that MTV screwed me out of Halo 2, so I would love to see them incur a loss on any and all transactions.

Forgive me, your post seemed to be suggesting that, without a doubt, they would catch wind of this conversation. That made it sound as though someone had just snitched on the guy for no other reason than to see his luck run out.

Quick. You leave the store with a bag of goodies that you paid for, as you are unloading your basket you realize there was a $50 item that didn't get rung up. Do you go back and return the item, or take it home as a freebie?

I've had this happen before. I blame it on dragging two kids through the store. They are a distraction to what is going on around you specifically what and where they throw crap in your buggy.
 
wow, i guess it's all been said. but yah, i'm not exactly "sneaking away" trying to get away with murder. i gave them my credit card number. they could have a field day with it if they want. giving up your number on the internet is even more generous than just giving them a check for the exact amount. it's not my fault if they do not choose to charge it.

but it's been written in my checkbook that the money was taken out, so if it does get charged eventually, it's not a shock to me. but damn, 1 month later?

i too was impressed with the shipping. i pretty much expected it to never arrive or maybe 2 months later, but i got it on the 10th. actually it may have been the 9th. i dunno it was right away though.

That's happened to me before. Not exactly, but something similar and it wasn't worth 50. It was less, but I went back to return it. It was something left from the last person in line before me. It didn't get put in her basket and they accidentally put it in mine. You feel a lot better taking it back, than enjoying the thing whatever it is, for a while but with a smidge of guilt over your head. Atleast some people do.

The thing with the game though isn't quite the same. If it were me though, I'd just send them an e-mail and tell them their mistake that way I don't have to keep waiting and wondering when they'll charge me.

Not that similar of a situation IMO, but in this case I would go back in. I'd consider myself (at least partly) to blame for leaving something in my basket.

A better scenario would be something being scanned but coming up less than it should (say $3 instead of $30) and the cashier not noticing or caring. Would you say something about it? Personally, I wouldn't.
