Rengoku: Tower of Purgatory

i thought the game was going for $40, not $50... unless I am mistaken...

as for the people at gamefaqs... whatever game specific board you go to, most people on that board will say all positive things about that game... usually no matter how bad it may be to other people... so I can't really judge it by what they say, but sometimes they can be right...

This game looks interesting, but if some things are done wrong it might fall flat on its face. I hope not.

I think this game is a prime example of a game coming out around launch - it's totally mediocre compared to the great games coming out for the "old" systems in regards to gameplay, but it's cutting edge in technology. I'm reminded of Zone of the Enders. I bought it, beat it in 4.5 hours, and all-in-all spent more time on the MGS demo that came with it. It was still a good game, definitely not worth 50 bucks, and there were much better options for the ps1 or dreamcast that I could have gotten instead... But as an early adopter, you pretty much get screwed all arounds in regard to price or game quality. If I didn't already get lumines, untold legends, and plan on getting mvp baseball in a week, I may have considered it.

oh, yea, i was assuming that it would be $50. but still $40 to find you dont like it, always disapoints me.

i know people can be biased, i guess i just wanted some opinions. right now there appears to be few psp games interesting me, so i am hoping this is cool.

can you rent psp games at hastings / blockbuster, i have not checked.

I had actually pre-ordered the game despite the iffy opinions on the JAP version. Luckily, I guess, it was delayed and I simply used the credit for Lumines.

58% so far on GR, kinda crappy.

The guy I talked to at Blockbuster said that mostly the stores with a GameRush are renting out PSP games. The only Blockbusters by my house all have GameRushs in them, so I can't comment on ones without. Check it out though. I know for sure that HollyWood Video is not renting them out. :(

I was innitially intersted in it but slowly I'm getting the impression that the marketing and design budget is higher than that of the development budget. I really think it'll end up being a mild action game which sucks, I'll be waiting on it with a keen eye on the reviews... I wouldnt go by Gamefaqs talk.

While I'll admit I spent a lot of time with the MGS2 demo as well I'd still say ZOE was still a pretty cool ass game though, short and a little repetative but still cool and difficult enough that the casualty rate made for increased replay value. It was a lot more polished than Rengoku seems to be but I'm hoping maybe there's still a glimer of playability that might shine through and save it when the reviews come down.

Japanese impressions had me put off on this one a long time ago--with the quality of games coming out or that have come out and i've missed--this one won't see time in my PSP.

I hardly have time to play AAA titles, let alone waste it on something that isn't stellar.

I'd like to see some more reviews though for the stateside version.

I actually cancelled my preoreder on this. I thought the reviews were weak. I will see what you all have to say about it after playing it. Wish I could rent it.

5.2.. dats not even worth my time renting... gosh....

well, I'll be looking for this to be in a $9.99 bargain bin one day...

Should be the first $10 PSP game in no time... nah.
Gretzky or Soccer will beat it to the bargain bin, most stores got 30+ copies of each and they hardly sell.

I was hoping this game would be good...sucks that it didnt do too well with the reviewers. Might eventually try it out of curiosity though...
