Replacing Rock Band 2 drums (360)

Well, my RB2 drums' inner electronics have finally given up the ghost (out of warranty, of course), and I've been itching to play them for a while now.

It looks like amazon.com sells the drums by themselves, but shipping to Canada is murder. Right now I'm flip-flopping between buying Rock Band 2 SE on Amazon and putting the game up on eBay (maybe the mic and second guitar as well), or buying the Beatles value band kit and a set of drum silencers and doing the same thing.

Are there any better options you know of?
What instruments do you currently gave? You could always get some good wood mods if you are gonna spend the money anyway.
I've got the RB2 SE band kit, although I only ever use the drums. Kind of sort of tempted to get the Ion kit, but I don't think I have room for it.

Ion's are no larger than the rock band kit relatively speaking. But, they tend to also lose their responsiveness just like the rockband set -- only slower.

If your serious, get a real electronic drum set and just mod it to work with rock band (I went with this option, and now I use all the cymbals when playing... I'm actually doing this to basically be my sheet music for real drumming now), or get the Good Woods.

It'd save you buying a new SE, and it'd give you a better drumset.

Those Stealth Mesh drum heads look really nice, but unfortunately it's not the pads that are broken, it's something in the kick pedal's circuit (I used a multimeter to verify that the kick itself is working).

How much does a "real" electronic drum set cost, and what's the mod?

P.S. Of course, the day I post this thread, the Amazon.ca RB2 kit goes up by $40.

Uhh... You can craigslist high end ones for pretty cheap mainly because the resale value of drum sets is abysmal.

Around $300-400 in BC.

I have no clue how much shipping would be but I have 4 sets of Rock Band 2 360 drum pads sitting under my bed. If you would pay shipping / maybe a bit more for cost I'd be glad to send them to you.

I'm talking to a guy on Kijiji about buying his Rock Band drums, so hopefully that works out. If a pad wears out, I may snag some of those GoodWoods pads. I'm hesitant to spend >$300 on drums, given that I'm still not very good at them. Maybe once I gold star a song that's not warmup?

That's very generous of you. Dumb questions: 1) do you just have the pads, or the whole big black base thing they sit on, and 2) if I may ask, how'd you wind up with four sets?

Just the pads for the RB2 drums. (I do have white stands from Wii Rock Band 1 Drums if you really needed one).

As for how, there was a glitch in the Rock Band site which resulted in them shipping me too many plastic instruments.

To be honest, I couldn't gold star any song until I got a real set and used the cymbals... Without the pad and kick rebound, you are VERY limited in your learning curve, or atleast, how good you erally think you are.

And dayum son... If I could glitch something out like that... I'd love to have 3 guitars to just mod the shit out of and practice soldering (IE: Laser strum bars)

I didn't hear back from the guy on Kijiji, and I'm jonesing.

MaddogMonty, if the offer still stands and you can get 'em shipped to Saskatoon for a reasonable price, I'll buy a drum set (as pictured on the floor: four round pads, one trapezoidal black thing with the D-pad and buttons - don't need stand, feet or kick).
