Hey guys, my Dell XPS M1210 laptop AC adapter recently stopped working and I'm looking for a replacement. Going directly through Dell for a replacement is around $80 but I'm noticing many websites that offer compatible adapters for around $20 or so.

Anyone have any experience replacing a laptop adapter and any website recommendations or store recommendations that will save me some money, as opposed to going through Dell?

I believe it's a 65 Watt Charger, from the PA-12 family of adapters. All help is greatly appreciated!

i also have a dell laptop (an inspiron 1520) and ive been through two dell ac adapters already.

i bet the part where it actually connects to your computer got frayed, right? thats what happened to mine both times. the first time, i was still covered by the warranty. the second time, i wasnt covered and decided to find a cheaper adapter online.

i bought mine for $30 shipped from etech.com. its a generic replacement brand, but it powers and charges my laptop. it does get a little bit loose from time to time and on rare occasions, my laptop wont recognize it as the right ac adapater (i just re-adjust it and its fine again). other than that, ive been using it for over 2 months now.

oh and the part where the ac adapter plugs into the computer seems to be a lot better then the dell ones so far.

hope this helps

Awesome, thanks for the answers guys, I'll probably end up picking one of these up after I fiddle around a bit with my old adapter.

I recently bought a charger for my Gateway on ebay for about $15. It seems like a generic brand but it's been working fine for now.
