Request: Need Free Ringtones!

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it kinda has to do with ringtones, does anyone know which phones are good about downloading ring tones? I know some phone brand and service providers are very particular about which tones they will take. I need a new phone and I want to get one that download most any polyphonic tones,

EDIT: here's a site http://www.polyphonicfree.co.uk/

There's a WAP link there somewhere

As for what kind of phone and service jimbodan, I have the Motorola V300 with T-Mobile, and every polyphonic ring tone I've downloaded has worked through the WAP site.
how's the service? I've heard bad things about T-Mobile.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get free ringtones on Verizon cell phone? I have a Motorola T730, and it seems the only way I can get more is through their Get It Now service which costs money and doesn't have ringtones I want.

It depends on what type of ringtones your phone uses and if you have the internet on your phone. If you dont have the internet and will be hard to find free ringtones because you can only get them thru text messages or what you could do if you have a composer on your phone you could find a site that tells you how to input a song into your phone, the quality isnt all that good but its better than what you got.

Is there a cable that allows you to transfer data from your PC to your cell phone? If so, what is it called and how much is it? My phone (Motorola T720) is MP3 ready and maybe it would be possible to use some of my MP3 files a ringtones.

There might be, check ebay, you will need that cable and the software.

Contrary to Wshakspear's experience, I only have good things to say about T-mobile. Good service, good reception, great phone, friendly customer service, moderately priced plans. IDK, maybe its just a regional thing? I'm from Oregon, and alot of my relatives use T-mobile too and like it.

If your from the Portland area, avoid AT&T at all costs. Sprint is Ok, but i've enjoyed T-Mobile alot thus far.

But then again, every phone company has their good and evil sides.

Jimbo, as far as phones go, if you have a bluetooth receiver on your computer then I would go with a Sony-Ericson that has bluetooth (im not sure if other brands have it). That way you dont have to mess with WAP sites or buying cables off of ebay.

I'm happy with cingular plus theyre merging with att wireless so the network should be huge. Stay away from verizon. verizon is the devil and always has been.

verizon locks their phones so that you can only download through "Get it Now!" You cant download ringers/wallpapers/games through WAP on any verizon phone :whistle2:x

you can use a data cable though

Eventide- does that mean you can't get any through text messages either? Blah. It sucks that Verizon is the only provider with decent service in the New York area.

Do you know where I can find a data cable for cheap? I saw it at Radioshack once, and the cable + software came out to over $40.

i use this site to make my OWN ringtones via my music collection.

You upload a portion of your own mp3s stored onto your computer, and m17 will send you the ringtone in a text message/etc.

good site
Works well on my Sprint phone, of course you'll pay for the internet access.
I do the searching on my pc, then just send the results to my phone.
(You do need internet access on your phone for the downloads to work.
Either over the cell network, or wifi.)
