Requesting deals for Las Vegas

KingSpike

CAGiversary!
So, I decided two nights ago that I'm going to be going to Vegas from Sunday, August 7 to Wednesday, August 10th. That is supposedly the best time of the week to go for good deals, and so far what I have found is pretty nice.

So here's what I'm asking from you wonderful guys and girls. If you know of any (or the best) websites that have awesome flight/hotel deals I would be much appreciative. I've tried sites like expedia and hotwire, but if you know of any others I'd love to see them.

I've tried to find a couple sites that have Las Vegas coupons as well. Free food or discounted food, money to gamble with, pretty much anything I can get for free/cheap would also be appreciated.

If there are any other sites that are dedicated to saving money in Vegas I would seriously love you forever. My parents are in Vegas right now and doing a little scouting for me in terms of coupons and free crap. I believe if I join the club of a casino they'll give me a coupon book (at least some may). Any other tricks that people know like that?

Thanks to all

I'm not into the "coupon books", so I can't help there. But as far as the travel goes...

99% of the time, the best deals on airfare and hotel are straight through the airline web site and hotel web page. The only exception I've found is deals through the Southwest (SW) Airlines "Vacation" web page. They e-mail you each week after you join, and provide combination hotel and airfare deals that can be pretty good. You can get a rental car and more through them as well, but I've never looked at if those deals for show tickets and such are worth it.

Currently, SW has deals on their regular site particular to various parts of the country. I may be heading to Vegas in November, and I can save on my trip each way if I book in advance. And unlike most deals, you can book now on their site for as far in advance as the site allows. A lot of deals they specify you have to buy 7 or more days in advance, and travel before "such and such" a date.

If it's your first time going to Vegas, I'd recommend at LEAST four days to see the town, the hotels, maybe a show, and try lots of different places to eat. The cheap spots are ALL down on the "old" strip, downtown. Also known as the Freemont Street Experience, those hotels aren't on Las Vegas Blvd., so they have cheap food and drinks to lure travellers into their casinos. Most stuff on the strip is pretty pricey anymore, but it's beautiful and I have a great time at the Mandalay Bay, shopping at Caeser's, etc.

Hope you have a great time and take lots of pictures! Vegas is a GREAT place, far different than the "old, smokey, scummy town" I imagined for YEARS before going about 5 years ago. ;)

Awesome, thanks for the help guys.

I have been to Vegas before, so I've seen a fair amount of stuff. I know that going to GameWorks is definitely not the wise thing to do if you want to play arcade games and do it cheap ;)

It actually looks like I'll be able to do airfare for free using some miles that my credit card gives me. Then my friend is going to do an airfare/hotel package (I'll pass on the tips, thanks) and just share his hotel room.
