I rarely see this game go on sale which is kind of annoying. It's a great game and love playing coop split screen. Picked it up used for $10 a year ago.

Just sos you guys know, the PC versions of these Capcom games tend to be great ports. This starts at DMC4 and goes up to DR2. RE5 PC includes what I think is a unique "TURN IT UP TO 11" PC only mega enemy spam mercenaries mode but I haven't tried it.

What it DOES NOT have is the DLC of the console version, which is two rather blah extra chapters and a whole additional new balancing of Mercenaries mode with a new cast of characters and new outfits. The latter makes the DLC a considerable value add.

Since 95% of the fun of RE5 is couch or online co-op Mercenaries mode, the PC version probably is not a great buy, but if you want a functional entry into the RE5 experience, go ahead.

In my opinion, RE5 feels like RE4 made by people who played RE4 and wanted to but just did not have the talent to recapture RE4's magic. Co-op Mercenaries is amazing fun but nothing else on offer here really matches RE4's quality. That award belongs to the Dead Space games, easily.

It's disappointing that it is missing all the DLC (except the shirtless Chris/business suit Sheva costumes) but it runs very well and looks great.

The PC-exclusive mercenaries mode is really difficult though. Played it once, forgot about it.

It's a decent game as long as your not playing single player. This is the only main Resident Evil game in my life that I have ever quit at chapter two because the AI was so horrid for me. Co-Op would be been like 10x better.

For what it's worth, the AI was not a serious issue for me although playing Professional, aka One Hit Kill difficulty with an AI is foolish

The only problems I ever had with the AI is during a certain boss fight on Professional... the AI tends to grab the boss even if you're Dying. They can't let go unless you perform the other part of the action, so... yeah. I died so many times during that fight.

Other than that, it's better than playing with a real person. They almost always do what they're supposed to, they have insane accuracy, &c.

In Professional, you're in Dying for all of a half second before you crater. I've NEVER been resurrected by the AI in Professional simply because the AI does not move to save you lightning fast. It never had to until Professional. maybe they tweaked it but that's how I remember it.

I think the AI performs better with certain weapons, they are wasteful sometimes with some healing items but generally it didn't let me down very often. I DO know the AI cheats in the LiN DLC and is invisible to the enemies while working the crank so you don't have to do the aggro pulling you would require with a human partner but I don't remember any other tweaks given to the AI

I beat Professional using the AI. Their #1 priority is to revive you if you're in Dying status. I've never had a problem with it, unless they're already stuck in a QTE sequence like I mentioned.

Whether they waste healing items or not is subjective. They don't go spraying you with a red/green combo if you're only down 1/4 or anything ridiculous like that, but it does tend to fill you up if you can take it. Like, if you're down 3/4 and they have an item that heals 1/2, they'll use it. I don't think this is a problem, personally.

Anyway, if you don't like their item management, you can just take stuff away from them. Regardless, it's nothing game breaking, even in Professional mode.
