They don't allow hotlinking, and my connection is too slow to save them and upload to image shack. If someone else would like to do that, please do. :) There are two japanese mag scans in that link.

I also found this pic on gamefaqs. A guy on there is comparing the DS and PSX versions.

Another RE1 remake.. sigh. Now if it was Resident Evil 2, that would RULE. I love RE2. But RE1.. bleh. It does look nice I guess, considering the game.

I really liked the original RE, so I'll probably pick this up for the hell of it. Is it just me or do those DS screen shots look like the prerendered backgrounds have been replaced with actual polygons and 3D environments?

Well other than the picture breaking the website (horizontal scroll, ick)....

I have to wonder if Capcom has decided that Resident Evil should be a test project for each new system. They have an already mature product in the PS1 version and can use the engine and looks as a basis to figure out new systems instead of creating some demos that are ultimately of little value.

That or the RE franchise is an odd senario where people want more RE, but dont want the canon messed up due to too many stories (as with Mega Man). So Capcom remakes RE as often as they can.

really excited about this game, but I am a little skeptical on how this game will work, control-wise. doesn't seem like the world's most comfortable game to play on a DS.

I bet the controls will be fine. I'm sure most people played through RE with the original PSX controller that did not have analog sticks. Essentially the same with the DS, but the DS is just a little bulkier. I think it'll be fine though.

It's supposed to be touch screen controlled combat. I guess you going to have to have your stylus ready when a zombie rolls up.

I don't know if I like that or not.. I will probably pick up the game anyways.

Looks pretty crappy. And RE1 isn't the most fun game of the series. If it was RE2, I would be more excited. Or better yet, an all new RE game.

All I have to say is "Deadly Strike" is possibly one of the lamest attempts to have DS in the subtitle so far. Other than that, looks promising.
When blood splatters on the screen, you have to wipe it away with your stylus. Pretty cool.
Cool...but it really doesn't make any sense from a gameplay standpoint.

Well, if a zombie bites your neck, blood will splatter. It might be just a gimmick, but it got my attention.

I think it looks better in some ways. In the DS version you can make out Jill's face but in the PS it looks like a blob. Also isn't the Playstation version running at a higher resolution than the top DS screen. I think it looks pretty good considering that.

Ok did some searching and the max resolution of the playstation is 640 x 480 with 16 million colors. The DS top screen has 256 x 192 with 260,000 colors. Yeah I would say the DS version looks damn good for what they are working with.

If this wasnt called "Resident Evil" I wouldnt even bother buying it when it comes out, except RE is my favorite series so I will make myself buy it.

The blood splattering on the screen is just a dumb gimmic IMO.

And I dont really need another version of RE1, but since its portable I guess it'll be ok...for $30 and not a cent more.
ANOTHER port of RE1, with worse graphics.

WTF? Just play the Gamecube version!
There is no portable handheld gamecube though.

RE is not a portable game, with long times between save points and limited saves.

It sure isn't but who knows the DS verision may be different. If they didnt change the save points the DS's battery would die before getting to the first save point.

I'm really disappointed to hear this. I thought the DS was supposed to be way ahead of the PS. Nintendo told us it was somewhere between the N64 and the Gamecube, and now I find out it isnt even on par with the PS1!!

I don't know what specs the DS has...but the PS1 version looks a little blurred. In comparison to the DS, I'd say the DS has a higher polygon count overall...however I can guarantee the DS doesn't have the power of the N64...but it's most likely stronger than the PS1. The screens look sweet for the DS version of RE1...eventhough I have almost every incarnation of it.

I'll eventually get a DS thanks to this title, looks sweet. The PS RE is the one that had me hooked but I was turned off to it after Code Veronica.
