Collector's Edition Exclusive Box Art (winner in a vote out of three possible choices, and believe me, THIS is the best out of the three):

Amazon has it for pre-order currently. See below for details (thanks Z(+)DIAC). As far as i can tell, it's only on Amazon right now, but that should change. I doubt it's an Amazon exclusive.

It seems like a pretty good deal to me. The interviews and all other cool extras are worth about $10, and only becuase i'm a huge Resistance fan, the action figure and packaging will be worth the other $10 (and a preview of a novel is pretty cool too. Halo novels are great).

Not for nothing, but this seems like a lot better deal than most of the crappy limited editions out there, especially if you're into collecting figures. Hopefully, this one will be decent. Also, I really enjoy the entire Resistance universe, like the alternate history timeline and the websites they have promoting Resistance 2, so the artbook and preview of the novel sound great.
I wouldn't mind if it was $100. Resistance was amazing, Ratchet and Clank is amazing and Insomniac defines win. I'm buying this.
Good point about Insomniac.

I wish all game developers were like Insomniac. I mean, they put out at least one game a year and whatever they put out is always quality.

Yeah, i know some of you are complaining about milking gamers and franchises, but if there's one company that doesn't do that, it's Insomniac. I really like the Resistance universe, and am glad that they are doing this. I don't think it should've been included in the first game becuase there was no following yet (ehrm Gears of War).

I also find it strange that Amazon is the one giving us our gaming news recently. Funny, but strange.
i concur with the idea of a dedicated thread for pre-orders, especially CEs/LEs, this way, no more of those thread crapping.
I agree. A lot of these CE pre-order threads have been popping up lately, and I can't help but wonder why they're in the deal forum. Because, really, they're MSRP... they're not a deal at all. I'm sure a lot of people want to be alerted as to when these items are up for pre-order, but don't they belong someplace else?

Wow talk about being overwhelmed with LEs!
I'm very intrigued by the LEs of Gears, Fable, and Fallout but I will definetly pass on Resistance since I'm not a big fan of the game.
Geez, if you don't want the game or think the CE's are a rip-off, just don't buy them.

I was actually waiting for a Resistance 2 CE, so this was a total no-brainer purchase. I would have bought this even if the only pack-in was a Nathan Hale plushie.
LOL, i like the sound of that ;)

Remember the Big Daddy mini figure from BioShock LE (or was that CE)? Anyhow, i probably want to get this as well, but i think doing this via trade-in from GS will less the stress on my wallet...

See, that's what this thread is all about. to inform the fellow CAGs about upcoming cool (or not so cool) CEs and LEs and then discussions about how to get them cheaper etc... Definitely a separate forum or something if this steps on old school CAGs' toes. As for me, i don't have problem with the DEAL forum as long as not a double post. However, if it's in a place where all of the pre-order goodies grouped together, that would be awesome (save time looking for something you didn't tag or you thought you did).

You're kidding, right? Between Spyro and Ratchet & Clank, there have never been a more heavily milked set of IPs in the gaming world. Well, ok I suppose Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot are equally milked, but I really don't agree that Insomniac is the innovative developer everyone makes them out to be. Resistance was a very derivative shooter and unless this LE comes with a metal case or steelbook, there is no way I am paying an extra $20 for it.

There's only one problem with that. Every time a new Crash bandicoot game came out, it got worse. With RaC, the games are still as fun and enjoyable as ever.

Resistance was very derrivite i admit, but it didn't rely on it. They made some amazing weapons (even though not all or original) and combined it all into one great game, with a great story as well.

Also, Insomnias is quality. There's a reason CB and Spyro games aren't talked about anymore: they blow, and now they're gone. They're also not being made by Insomniac. RaC is, and it's still an excellent series.

The best developers of course are the ones making the God of War series, but nobody can beat them. Who else would give you an extra disk full of bonus features.....as the standard....

I love how people complain about the price of the LE, I mean if you don't like it then buy the regular version (I will). Don't get mad at a company for trying to make an extra buck, they are not forcing anybody to buy the LE, they are giving you a choice between it and the regular version.

Maybe it'll be released in a really big box and then hopefully Target will slash the price after only a few weeks....LOL!

well said... i paid $40 for GoW2 and still think it worth it. As for R2, w/o metal cases, $20 extra is a bit pushing it. Perhaps a better deal somewhere else...

I'm the first one to jump on a stupid non-deal thread, but I appreciate the op on this, in for one.

Well since I'm a tool, I pre-ordered this along with the LE of Fable II, Fallout 3, and Resident Evil 5 about 3 or 4 days ago. I only buy LE's of games in which I am a fan of the series. It's just mind boggling that most of these franchises are coming out at nearly the same time.

Haven't gotten around to the first yet so I'll probably pass. Don't know what everyone's complaining about. That's a lot of extra stuff for 20 bucks. I'd imagine their profit margin even deteriorates a little from it. Probably strictly doing it for the fans. If none of it arouses $20 worth of interest just go for the RE. It's the game we're all fundamentally after, so it doesn't make you less of a fan or anything.

Me too. I only buy CE's for games of which I'm a huge fan. I'm a Resistance nut, so I have no problem paying full price for the R2 CE since I've been rabidly anticipating the game for about a year now.

The other CE's I have on order are the Fallout 3 Clock Edition, Fable II Hobbe Figurine 40-Year-Old Virgin Edition, and the Gears of War 2 Scare The Neighborhood Children with Your Fake Lancer Edition.

I passed on the GTA IV CE (not a huge fan of the game, and besides it didn't have any cool stuff in the CE), and I didn't pick up the Halo 3 Cat Helmet Edition until I saw it for $59.99.

^^^^

Just a correction, there's no Lancer Gears 2 edition (i must have said that a hundred times, but for a purpose, i.e. don't want people to get confused with the Halo 3 Helmet LE).

True, the Gears/Lancer combo isn't an actual super-duper collector's edition. But the ridicule from my girlfriend will be the same.

Holy shit. I'm freaking sold now. That is most certainly worth another $20, at least for fans of Resistance.

Ditto on that thought. I personally want them all of course, but I guess it's pretty obvious that there'll be some LEs that will hang around the shelves longer than others, and it will be interesting to see which ones those are.

I'm interested in this set in particular 'cause of the figure. Just hope it ain't as fragile as those Bioshock ones were.

Z(+)DIAC, thanks!

Added to OP. It has even more than i originally thought, now it's DEFINITELY a must-buy. They're making GoW2 LE look bad :)

LOL, so true.... And Zodiac, thanks for the awesome pics, looks good!

CE's are a money grab, plain and simple. Don't fall for it. The behind the scenes and making of stuff is worth watching only once, if at all, in most cases. Save your hard earned for the inevitable price drop. CE's in particular seem to drop fairly quickly in price (just got Madden 09 CE for half off - $45).

In this case, the only reason I would pay the extra $10 would be fore the figure. That might actually have potential for resale.

The Madden 09 CE is a real oddity, one that probably has more to do with self space than anything else, considering it is only the PS3 version and only at one store. You aren't going to consistently see a popular game like that drop 50% in a couple of weeks. Even the overproduced, non-moving Halo 3 Legendary Edition took a couple of months before it hit the $60 to $70 price range.

Also, thanks for speaking for the rest of us and our tastes. Many of us are have already stated that we are fans of the Resistance universe and would be very interested in anything that adds to it. This CE has a chronology, so it is definitely something we would be interested in watching more than once. Plus, as was previously mentioned, the figure alone is worth $10, considering it is from DC Direct and not someone just coming up with some crap in their basement.

This alone will make it only go up in value.
This alone will make it only go up in value.
Good point, indeed. Unlike bonus DVDs or fancy covers, the figure is something that will actually have some value in the second-hand market.

I preordered last week using the BML promo to save an additional $10. Figured that if I changed my mind I could always cancel the order. But seeing the details of the LE, I wll prolly keep the order as is.
Quick Picks
Lucky. I've been trying to get more preorder games in my Quick Picks, and yesterday I got markers and photo paper.:whistle2:k

You have to rid of the non-gaming related from your recommendation, otherwise you'll get a bunch of crap, such as markers and photo papers. Always do the night before the next product show up and search a lot on gaming. That way, search views will show up on your Quick Pick.

Ok, either Amazon or I are clearly doing something wrong. Went through my recommendations yesterday, there were a bunch of video game guides and graphic novels and I clicked not interested in a bunch of them until I got bored. What do I have today? Video game guides and graphic novels! Ugh. Pretty sure two of them I already marked as not interested too.

Instead of clicking not interested, click the fix this link and then make it not count that item towards your interest.

Did you click refresh after you clicked not interested?

Where do you click "Not Interested"? I'm on my Gold Box page and I don't see anything that says "Not Interested".

I want to make this show up on my Gold Box...

Nice! I got it in my Goldbox today. I marked everything as Not Interested or Don't use for recommendations for everything except 360 and PS3 games.
