I'm having the same dilemma as you. I haven't touched the game for about a month since I last played co-op with a friend, but I know as soon as I sell it I'll want to play it.
 
The next playthrough is pretty fun. I wish I had the Reapers the first time through.
 
This game continues to rule my face...its rare that you actually have to outsmart the A.I.

btw, I just got to Manchester (the part after escaping the alien compound)--anyone know how far I have to go till the end?

If you just escaped from the Chimera conversion center you've got a long way to go.
 
I just listened to cagcast 50, and CheapyD said Call of Duty 3 looked like a better FPS than REsistance and that Resistance didn't look that good. Kind of funny to think about it now.
 
Haven't played CoD3, but Resistance does remind me of CoD2...except the enemies are smart and the battlefield is a hell of a lot more interesting, imo.

I know, just saying it's also funny to look at things in hindsight.
 
eh I just beat it, it took me about 10 hours I didnt really keep count. Seemed average or a little over average length. I must say I think this game is rediculously overrated, though its a great launch title. Probably around a 7.5 in my books. I never really felt compelled to keep playing is what really bugged me, I usually want to keep going and going. Now on to multi which Ive only played a bit of.
 
Beat this game yesterday.
GOD was it short.
Great game though, I loved playing a FPS with a story, novel idea I think. I played it through on medium difficulty.
I get a Bluetooth headset today and plan to play it online tonight for the first time. If its good online I can rationalize owning this as opposed to just renting it. I wonder if there will be added DL content that will prolong this games life? I hate owning games that cost a fortune when I could have rented it (even with two rentals) and been done with it. I got the game as a gift so I am not too sad.
But anyways this game was compelling to play. I had some real motivation both from fun game play and a decent story. I liked how you never stayed doing the same thing long. The Jeep level could have been longer though, I loved that one. I wish the whole game was longer .
Now I have no other PS3 game I want or know of to buy. Guess I will take a break from it other than playing some online Resistance.

Do any of you play this online any more? Its new to me so I know I am going to give it a shot.

I still play and don't see myself getting bored with it any time soon. it's much faster and more hectic than the single player mode which is nice. The balance is pretty decent, but during your first bunch of games, you're going to get jacked instantly. Plus, earning exp and awards is very addicting!

I just started to play online too. Crazy players scared me off, but I'm getting slightly better.
Do you only get exp from ranked games?

I haven't played an unranked game yet, so I'm not sure how that works out.
 
Honestly I wish I did play this game more. But the lack of headphone as standard makes it less fun to play online since hardly anyone uses one. Plus the whole push to talk thing is really annoying.

But the biggest reason I don't play online is simply the ps3 controller just sucks for FPS'. The stick is raised too high and uncomfortable for aiming. I really wish they would add Keyboard mouse support.
 
I've been playing online too and I just suck. :lol: In "Conversion" I'm out in like 30 seconds. I mean we all spawn within 10 feet of each other and I've got bad aim so I lose. But it's fun. :)

Have you noted in this game that the PS3 screen saver thing doesnt work nor does the controller shut off due to inactivity? As a matter of fact I have never seen this happen while in the menu system.

Maybe we should all play a little CAG training match.

I added you, but I couldn't figure out how to join your game. Damn you, Xbox Live, you making me ignorant and lazy!

I got one Clan request and I joined up. I don't know whos clan it is.

I played about three games, and faired poorly. I was consistantly in the bottom 30% or so. I did get some ribbons though (multiple kills, and headshots). It makes the loosing seem not so bad.
 
What gets me is when I'm in a face off, hitting the other dude and he still kills me first. Gotta work on my headshots. I don't think I'll be able to play tonight but I'll try.
 
Ya I will be on. I am going to play some of that C&C demo on 360 though but I would love to get some play time at this game. Last night out of 12 games I got 10 kills. I think I was the only one with a headset though.
 
I will be on tonight for a while also if you guys want to send me an invite. I just got the game about a week ago, and I'm about 1/2 way through the campaign, so don't expect any sort of great preformace out of me.

You can tell the PS3 to automatically switch resolutions as needed. When at the XMB, my t.v.'s in 1080i but it switches to 720p when playing games.
 
Bump..n00b questions here.

1.) In single-player, am I missing checkpoints or something? I'm playing on normal, but the game is pretty unforgiving. I guess you have to really take your time?

2.) I know unranked multiplayer matches are filled with one-hit kill games, so I stopped playing them, but how do I get into a 40 person ranked match?

I think the save points in some areas are too far apart. It's frustrating and I'm getting lazy about completing the single player mission because of it. There's tons of stuff in this game I've never seen. Gotta get on that.
 
Single Player was good for me, the story was fine for an introduction. Everyone knew since day one that this game would most likely have a sequel. So for the next game, it'd be nice to have the story told from Hale's point of view instead from a 3rd person point of view. The game to me needs more character interaction. Just like all FPS games, there's really no reason to play through the single player more than one time. However, this game has showed its worth with the online portion - I've become almost addicted to online play (but not good at it) I think that the shotgun has too much range, for the amount of power that it yields.
 
Word is, the downloadable content is going to hit this Thursday for free. And a new map pack $7.99 for multiplayer... not sure how many maps.

Not at first. They throw you into the game. If you don't have any experience using the weapons, it'd be very hard (I had the same experience while I was waiting for my copy to arrive).
 
will the old PS2 Logitech headsets work with this game/PS3?

after reading what some people here have to say, I might have to pick this up for the under $25/30 point
