RESOLVED!!! - Info needed on the FYE 5$ (free) games sale for a BBB report

Hey punqsux, I went to my FYE today with my camera but they didn't have any signs or notices about the sale you mentioned. Sorry man, if I do happen to hit another FYE, I'll be sure to keep my camera with me.
 
well, when i was making my purchase, they took the sign down, but considering they had no more 4.99 games, i bet they'll put it back up.

doubt its over on a random tuesday.
 
The BBB wouldn't have done anything anyways. They are only there to take complaints but can't actually do any legal action. It just gets added to their files for anyone who wants to know a store's reputation. I complained on a company once and basically was told that.

Contacting the BBB definitely helps. I had a problem with getting a magazine subscription once. I never got an issue but paid for it by check. I complained to the company for over two months! I got nowhere with them so I contacted the BBB where they were based. I also contacted the Attorney General there. Needless to say, In less then two weeks I received my refund with a rather lame "check holding till cleared for 45 days" policy explanation. Next day I get a letter from the BBB asking if everything was to my satisfation.......

please dont doubt....i dont think this sale was advertised...and after the advantage everyone was taking of this deal, the heads at fye probably left a memo telling every store manager to end the sale...
 
after being told over the phone by my local fye a week or so ago that this sale is over...i went there yesterday while i was at the mall...the sale was still going on, but the cheapest game i saw was $9.99....nothing worthy either

Punqsux, what's the number for FYE customer service? I tried looking on their website, but couldn't find it. I got a different problem with them.

I went there looking to get the Simpsons season sets that are on sale this week. Well, they had the first one but not the other two. She calls another store about 10 miles away in the heart of Philadelphia, and they say they have it. I tell her to tell them to hold it for me and I'll pick it up tonight. She says that store closes at 10pm, and it's currently 8:30. So, I cross the bridge, pay the $3 toll, and arrive in Philly, only to find that the mall there closed at 7pm. WTF??? So I drive back over the bridge into Jersey, go to the mall by me and ask them WTF??? She calls the other store again, and the other store tells her that they are located on 30th street, not 8th street where she told me. I tell her that I paid a $3 toll, and it would cost me another $3 to go back over. The rest of the conversation went like this:

E-Z-B: Can I get a raincheck from your store instead of crossing the bridge again and parking in the city?

Clerk: We don't do that here, so no.

E-Z-B: Can you have them transfer the box sets over here to your store so I can just pick them up from you?

Clerk: No, we don't do transfers between stores.

E-Z-B: Can I substitute Seasons 2 & 3 for the Family Guy instead?

Clerk: No, the sale's only for the Simpsons.

E-Z-B: ARe you getting any more in before Saturday.

Clerk: Maybe. You can call later.


Next day.

I call the store by me again to see if they got more in. I ask if they had Season 3 because by now I picked up Season 2.

E-Z-B: Do you have Season 3?

Clerk: Yes.

E-Z-B: Can you hold it for me.

Clerk: Sure.

(E-Z-B drives back over)

E-Z-B: I'm here to pick up Season 3.

Clerk: Whoops. We thought you meant Season 4.

E-Z-B: (Shakes his head in disgust).

Clerk: We'll call you if we get more in. :roll:

Thus ends the story.

I think I'm just annoyed that they weren't willing to help me in any way whatsoever. I tried every option, but I left their pissed - both nights.

They had a sign (something like this):
Buy 2 Games, get $1 off Each
Buy 3 Games, get $3 Off Each
Buy 4 or more, get $5 off each


Ok. Hmmm..all these games are marked 4.99...i'l buy all of them. they wont pay you or give them for free, so a penny each they are. it of course took $5 off each game up to 19.99 as well.
