That's a pretty funny question. It all depends on who does the pricing. It's all over the place pricewise. basically 4.99-24.99. If you find a 1/2 price books make sure you look in the clearance section as well as the software section. I have gotten Hardcover guides for $3 in clearance and some good games like Champions of Norrath: Return To Arms for $2...

 
If you have any local independent video game shops in the area, check them.  They tend to have a lot of older guides for sale, often very cheap.
