I know they offer a 7 day warrenty on new items but what if a new game is purchased but comes out to be a defect and is not in stock? Do they give a refund back or is it only good for the same title?

Did you call them about it? If so, I'm sure they told you you have 7 days. But, they would probably just give you a refund or ask if you wanted anything else in the store. Probably the second part first, since as we know, Gamestop HATES to have to give anyone a REFUND.

Just stop in and see what happens is the best I can say.

Hey, the BF had to return a defective game just the other day...

If there are any other Gamestops nearby, you could have them check that store for a copy of your game, and hold it till you can get over there to exchange.

I would imagine that, if no one around has it, and there's no other games you want, you'd probably get a refund- but it may be store credit.

(And if they try to swap you discs for a used copy, I'd demand a price adjustment. Just because.)

Whenever I've tried to return an item to GameStop in the past, they did it but were complete assholes about it.

Note: When EBGames was still here though they were very nice about returns and sometimes would even open up a brand new copy of a game to replace a broken used disc. When Gamestop took over however all of that changed.

I bought BF2: Modern Combat used, didnt like it, returned it the next day with no problem. It's just your local gamestop. I always read all the stories on why people hate gamestop and I havent had any problems with mine.
