Returning to Best Buy

I bought Civ IV complete from Best Buy about a month and a half ago and it's still unopened. My problem is that I'd like to return it and have wanted to return it for about a month now. I lost the receipt or threw it away probably the day I brought it home. Is there any way for me to return the game to BB for either store credit or money back?

I've thought about just going and buying another copy and getting a gift receipt with it to return both copies later, but they probably have the purchase number on both receipts and only let you return one huh? So am I SOL on this?

(No, I didn't buy the game on sale and am trying to make a profit, I just want to buy the game on steam instead since I found out I can't link it to my steam account -- oh, and it's on sale on steam.)
 
Well the return policy is 30 days so you are out of luck. In the future if you used reward zone they can look it up through that. Gift receipt and regular receipt has the same number so it wont work.
 
Usually they can pull it up, especially if you have an RZ card, or if you used a CC. The gift receipt won't work. Worst case you can do a no-receipt return for store credit - depending on the mood of the employee.
 
That's what I thought but I figured I'd check on here first to make sure there were no workarounds. Thanks for the replies!
 
Your best bet is to sell it off yourself or wait for Christmas returns period (and hope they would accept a non-receipt return).
