I just seen a news segment with Al Sharpton. And in case you didn't know, Al Sharpton is a "black rights activist". Al Sharton and some reporting were arguing about the Don Imus case. (If you don't know what it is, google it.) Anyway, Al Sharpton was denying every racist thing he ever said, and was making it seem like Don Imus was the most horrible person on Earth. That's besides the point. Do you think that Don Imus deserved what he got? (Fine + being fired.) I personally think a fine would have done good, but I'd like to hear what you think.

in my personal opinion, sharpton is there to neutralize the blacks.

he wont address the serious issues that face the black population, while at the same time giving the illusion that he really is.... see: Don Imus scandal.

the nappy headed ho incident seems like a move to push for hate speech laws similiar to that in the UK.

What does that mean?

In my personal opinion, I'm sick of seeing Al Sharpton everywhere.

I've read about many cases where our own gov't is sterilizing black women in this country and in africa. That's a serious issue. And a issue he will stay very far away from.... keeping many blacks folks in the dark about whats really happening... thus, neutralizing them by keeping them inactive.

In my opinion, Al Sharpton is doing more harm than good. And I'm not just saying that because I'm white. I have many black friends that would say the same thing.

Do you have any prroof that he does more harm than good? To make a statement like that, I'm sure you've researched all of the good things he has done in his career as well as the bad?

Hint: Don't look to the media for it. They sure as hell aren't going to report him doing anything positive for anyone.

I said, in my opinion. That doesn't mean I have facts to back it up, that's just what I think. And yes, obviously the media wouldn't report anything good that he does, just in the same way that he would never mention anything good 'the white man' has done.

I'd say you need to see a physician if you see him everywhere. Or lay off the brown acid.

Now, if you mean "seeing him everywhere" as meaning the news media, I think there are a lot of people you and I can agree on that appear in the media far more than Sharpton. I suggest starting with Lou Dobbs.

Sharpton's biggest problem is that he focuses on the causes of racial inequality that he can not attribute to the black community, and in doing so, he looks foolish. Another problem is that the media, along with public attitudes, have made him such a controversial character that people don't give him credit for points he does make, instead extracting the minutiae of what he says that they can disagree with him. Most people I know who don't like Sharpton react to what he says with a mentality that starts at "how can I disagree with what he says," rather than "what is he saying and what does it mean or imply?"

Al Sharpton is a racist who is primarily concerned with getting media attention to enhance his own reputation because he can convert that into more fame and money for himself. The fact that he has made himself into the mouthpiece of Black America is a point of great shame for me as a black person. And if you're a black person living on the East coast, NYC in particular, you do see Sharpton everywhere. Obviously, it would be less so for someone not living in or of the black community. He has not only done bad things, but him doing some good doesn't doesn't come close to expiating the lasting harm he and others (Jesse Jackson) have done to the black american identity.
