I am not going to debate whether or not BB intended for the game to be free after the coupon. The fact remains that IATCG was totally justified in wanting to email BB corporate about the way he was treated. Unlike the FTF fiasco and Nerf N-Strike deal, this was a legit use of the coupon. That BB manager was totally in the wrong. The game was not "on sale" or "on clearance". There was a price drop and $9.99 is now the regular price.

The coupon itself states:

"Limit 3 of each title per platform per offer. Markdowns taken from regular prices."

Nowhere on the coupon does it say that it is up to the Cashier's/Manager's discretion as to whether or not to accept the coupon. They should have scanned it and let him go on his way with the free games.
 
they did reimburse my expired reward zone points. actually they game me more than I lost, they must like me :)
and let's be honest, this is best buy's way of clearing game inventory, they have done this for months this isn't new to them or they would stop it. and when it does get a few managers upset or whatev then they do stop it. so everyone chill. i never knew so many people, especially cags, feel sorry for bestbuy/gamestop/ea/etc. If i were the paranoid type I would think they are all pro-corporate anti cag moles sent to destroy us from the inside. toke. but yeah i will pass this month but I'm hoping next month has a nice opportunity. ;) If they didn't want it to go free they would bump the price up $5 like SR, or stop it early. peace

He wasn't treated harshly they told him no. Maybe if he wasn't being a greedy ass and brought up ONE instead of THREE they may have honored it. Who knows.

I didn't say he was treated harshly, I meant he was treated wrongly - as in he was flat out lied to (the game was not on sale or clearanced).

And IATCG wasn't being greedy. He was following the coupon and only wanted to buy 3 copies (which was written limit) and they should have honored it. Greedy would have been if he brought up 9 copies of the game with 3 coupons and told the cashier to do three separate transactions.

I think we have shown that the BB manager did make up that excuse/lie since it was not on sale, which makes IATCG's email to corporate complaining about that manager justified.

Have to agree with velo on this one. I still think that BB let SBD run free the whole week just to clear it from inventory. My guess is that some buyer saw a sudoku game, said "This will sell like hotcakes! I mean, it's sudoku." Then the game sucked balls and they got stuck with a crapload of games. So they reduce the price and drop a coupon. We clear the stores out (with some people at least buying some filler) and they don't have to leave it sitting on the shelves.

Now - FTF and Nerf were clearly mistakes. So they disabled the coupon. Saint's Row they just raised the price by 5 bucks and let the coupon run.

Anyway, no matter. You're a trolling douche.

Actually Crimecraft IS free with the $10 coupon since it had a price drop. People are hesitating on getting it because it's a crappy P2P PC MMO that has little to no resale/flip value.

Actually Velo214 is correct. I've worked in Corporate Retail for over 15 years and these things do happen. It's a legality issue, but in "plain speak" it costs more money for companies to ship back (or store in a warehouse) mass quantities of items that are not "big ticket" (expensive). It's a "roundabout" legal way of clearing out merchandise without the merchant approval. The coupon is legit and every BB should honor it (should being the key word here). If a BB manager doesn't, he has a right to at that time until further investigation (by him and/or Corporate) to make sure it is "legit" and not a mistake on Corporate marketing/advertising's end.

If you were denied, I would check back later. In a nutshell, you can only blame yourself and/or hoarders who have abused coupons in the past (and now have the manager's undivided attention on these matters when they arise). Don't get too upset at him or her. Like everyone's job, his/her main job is to make the company money (not lose it by Corporate screw-ups).

This has been my theory all along. I say BB knows what is going on and does this on purpose to clear inventory of games it knows wont sell. Definately cheaper to give it away than to pay someone to box it up and pay for shipping or to be destroyed.

You know, these threads always end up going the exact same way. Someone spots an opportunity to get some extremely cheap/free stuff. Then members of the forum get extremely excited, thinking that what they have found is now a company guaranteeing their product at that opportunistic price.

Now, these members, while doing nothing wrong, attempt to go to the store and take advantage of the pricing (whether error, or intentional oversight). The store, which always has internal policies about merchandise, turns them down. They (more likely than not) emphatically insist they are entitled to take advantage of the opportunistic pricing. It ends poorly, and they come back here and complain, where conflict arises.

1) None of you know the "regular price" of an item. Any time there is an advertisement, it is an "invitation to make an offer" and does not constitute an offer. Now, there are limited times that an advertisement, promotion, or other discount CAN be an offer, however more often than not, courts side with the manufacturer/retailer/distributer.

2) Just because a store marks something down, adjusts its price, changes the label on an item in store, this does not bind them to sell the product at that price. Limited exceptions MAY (not WILL) include: limited time sales (with strict hour limits set), limited items promised in stock (e.g. if they say "5 per store" it's more likely to be a promise" or the text of an ad is so GROSSLY misleading as to attempt to bait an offer without a meeting of the minds. Keep in mind, this is like advertising Tekken 6 at twenty dollars, and them trying to give you Barney's Best Balloon Blast instead for that price.

Now, don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with trying to take advantage of these opportunities. But, you aren't entitled, and it gets annoying when these threads blow up. It's good to know if it works for some, it's helpful to know how those who fail interacted with the store, so others may alter their attempt. It is NOT helpful for you to say how "you're right, they're wrong, those swindling bastards."

That being said...crimecraft...really?
 
got my three copies! cashier didn't even flinch. They easily had 30+ of them, almost to the point where they were falling off the shelf :lol:

on my way over, I was thinking, they are simply testing us...for what? remains to be seen. If we start to break this down with x-blades, its been almost 8 months running w/ at least 5 of those months giving us free games. Sometimes, the months were even back-to-back. Now, ok, the first couple of times (even times before that w/ Midnight Club) can be written off as 'mistakes' It looked like they caught on w/ Saints Row on the PS3, but yet, gave us more free games! Yeah, them over-buying too many of that item makes sense, or someone could be looking out for us (but whoever that is needs to give us better stuff!)

how this relates to Crime Craft, is this one in particular, we practically owe it to ourselves and them to pick this up with the coupon. The item is clearly not on sale, and stores are flooded with them. Reverse psych this, maybe they're thinking if we don't take this game, we've lost interest in these matters, hence, no more free games. I know I'm never even gonna open this game, my computer won't even run it..so maybe its a good replacement DVD case ;) Haters gonna hate, but I implore everyone that can, to get out there, grab 3 copies of this game, get it for free and be happy the cycle continues!
 
Got two copies today (one for myself, and one for the fiance) at the Crabtree Mall BB. Plenty more copies left for those of you in the area. No questions asked.

Sorry, but they shouldn't be charging for this garbage in the first place. I'm not going to waste my time, gas or wear and tear on my car and printer to go after this crap. I have always been annoyed with people who take muliple free samples or grab tons of freebies from trade shows or conventions they know they will never use. I think anyone who goes to Best Buy and grabs this particular "freebie" is one of those people and I have a little too much self respect to bother.

Since I'm heading to Best Buy for my refund on the LotR Steelbook preorder anyway, I might as well grab some copies of this soon to be classic game lol.

Actually, corporate gave me a $20 gift card the last time I wasn't allowed to take part in a promotion a couple of years ago(all Prima guides were on sale for $10 off, $10 guides were coming up .00 at the register), so I wonder what they would say if I were to actually email them.

But I didn't email them because I have ZERO interest in Crimecraft and I'd rather get a console game for gratis if they put out a coupon this next month that makes one free again.

But how does trying to use a $10 off coupon on a game that's not marked as on sale/clearance that is only $10 make ME a douche? I was only trying to use the coupon the way in which it was intended to be used(to get $10 off the game).

It's not my fault the game price dropped and the coupon was still available.

Alright guys, I got two copies. So basically you have to create an account. Once it's created you use the code that comes with it for two free months (you can actually enter this code while creating your account). Apparently - and this is a big deal for anyone that actually likes the game - you can use the code for 2 free months on EXISTING accounts. That's right, they're giving it away for free after coupon and you can use the codes to extend your online time. So if you get 12 copies, you'll have 2 years of playtime. Considering the horrible reviews the game got, I'm guessing that 2 years is more than anyone would want to play it though. I just installed it and am going to give it a try but I wanted to let everyone know this.

Do you know how many actual deals on CAG are involving glitches(aka mistakes), so I guess 80-90% of CAG is filled with douches by your definition there, right?

I tried getting THREE copies because that is the amount the coupon allows. Why would I try for less? My thing is I'm either all in or why bother.

As for the no interest, I would probably try it with the 30 day free trial included in the box, but beyond that I doubt I would play it ever again.

But I know a few people who might consider playing this on a monthly fee basis, which was also why I was grabbing the three copies. I figured they could each try it and we could all play together.

And typical guy, now that I know this I have even more reason to be a hoarding douche, since if my friends like it they can play perpetually using the free copies I could grab up from BB. LOL
 
Also another card comes with the game that has a code on it. When the code is input into your account, it gives you the message:
Thank you, your account has been updated with '100 Gold Bars (game card)'

I know that last month's went way off topic then turned into a name calling slappy fest. I doubt it will happen this month since the game isn't on sale or clearance although that one guy was trying to get all slappy with you a couple pages back.

I won't have a use for them either and I tried reaching my one friends' bro-in-law today to let him know bout them but got no answer earlier.

Oh well. They were big into WOW and I doubt an action shooter MMO would be the thing for them.

At the kiosk, the ones around my BB are always near or around the DVDs but I've had times I've used some of the employee terminals and had them print it out for me.
 
BB may have caught onto reduce price glitches. I've noticed the coupon expires on Saturdays now, not Sundays (when price changes are taken place).
