I wonder if gamestop really did get shipments of this and persona, because in my two years of following gamestop, I have never seen either game in-stock. And given that neither of them have even marginal trade-in values (

Interesting

Checked the Gamestop website for my (sorta local, 20-30 min drive) local B&Ms for Persona 2.

Gamestop shows 1-3 and "No" for "More on the way?"
Software Etc shows 0 and "Yes"
Gamestop in the other direction says 0 and No

Too bad I paid $50 for it, $30 would have been better. With Rhapsody @ $40 though, gamequestdirect would have been almost better.

After all, gas is like $3 a gallon now (locally it was $2.73 at 7am this morning, I got up and came to work tonight, dropped to $2.53). So I would have spent 1-2 gallons of gas to go pick it up at the B&M. After all, you could still get a used & abused disc-only from the website.

I just wanted to let those interested in Rhapsody know that the Gamestop on Larkin Avenue , Joliet, IL had two copies of Rhapsody that looked in good shape/complete for 39.99.

Beats getting disc only bullshit from their website
Does anoyone know if Gamestop is making more money opening new games and selling them for used or not? I mean, that's the only reason I could possibly think of for why they do it, but then wouldn't they do it for all games then?
im shocked they are not trying to sell them as New but opened and charging full price. I know the one in the mall has 3 copies of Front mission 3 says new but they are opened for 29.99

Got the Bettendorf, IA B&M's only copy today. Mint condition, but with no shrinkwrap and marked as used. $40. The employees both said "I didn't even know we had that, wow."

I hope a price drop isn't coming now with these copies flooding out! Looks like just about every Gamestop is getting one or two copies in, so your best bet is probably to physically go and get one.

My guess is they are opening these because they don't have the security sticker and GS doesn't want to have any problems with people thinking they are resealing used games and thats a can of worms better left unopen. Lets face it thats what those sealed copies look like. Of course this will effect prices sealed or not now,but who knows how this will play out. We may be seeing the beggining of trend. The only rare games that are a safe investment are carts. Is the rare video game bubble is about to break? I for one wouldn't mind.:D

well, i saw a super puzzle fighter with the security seal, open but with the "r" over the upc. they did the same with the greatest hits xenogears, tactics, anthology, and chronicles when i used to work there.

Same here, I would love go get PS1 RPGs in excellent condition and complete for a great price.

Looks like the B&M Gamestops got their shipment in. I picked up the last (only?) copy of both Rhapsody and Persona 2 today. Both were in like-near condition with manual and both discs. Unfortunately, Persona 2's case was broken beyond repair, but the nice guy at GS helped me switch with an old double-CD case and put the inserts in there. I don't really mind the old case, since I just wanted somewhere to store the game when I'm not playing it.

$29.99 for Persona 2, $39.99 for Rhapsody. Looks like they're sticking with the price they're advertising online.

I got my Persona 2 and Rhapsody from the online store today and they were in mint condition.. unfortunately the retards at Gamestop sent me Shadow Hearts: Covenant complete instead of Shadow Hearts... should be fun trying to exchange that.

I saw one minty-looking copy today at the Gamestop in Niles (Golf Mill mall). They also have SMT: DDS, but I've seen plenty of those around Chicagoland.

Persona 2 and Rhapsody came in the mail today, and both were absolutely mint. I'm really glad I waited and didn't jump on those new copies for 50$ each, especially since I already had Persona 2 and just wanted to replace a scratched disc. I learned my lesson after RE2. So for about 70$ bucks I got both games in mint condition plus with the buy 2 get one free sale I got a free copy of Killer 7.

I wanted to give a little bit of props to GS, after sending me Shadow Hearts: Covenant instead of the first game they sent me out the first game without asking for Covenant back so for $74 I got Persona 2, Rhapsody and both Shadow Hearts games complete :)
