Got the latest OXM last week and I have to say I was a little dissapointed in the Riddick demo. From the hyped previews I've seen touting it as 'the best looking Xbox game yet' I was expecting to be totally blown away. But to me the graphics weren't leagues ahead of most current top games. Certainly not terrible or anything, but not knock your socks off either, if that makes sense.

The game itself seemed like it could have some promise, hard to really say from the short demo. But I actually had a glitch in my 2nd play through. My guns dissapeared from Riddick's hand. He still held his hands as if a gun was in them and I could still shoot the gun and switch guns. But I couldn't see any gun. (and thus couldn't see how many bullets were left) and the flashlight also didn't work without the gun showing up. So I eventually became stuck. Hope they work that out from the final product!

Anybody else have any impressions?

I've barely touched the Psy-Ops demo, Metal Slug 3 seems pretty fun, though also pretty difficult. And it's kind of amusing that the disc has a demo of the $5 at Best Buy and fairly old Rogue Ops.

I didnt get a chance to play the demo but every source I've found says this will be one of the better FPS games and possibly one of the best movie liscened games ever. (which isnt saying a lot) but ill definitely look foreward to this game

I have yet to get to the Riddick demo, but I really did enjoy the Metal Slug 3 demo. Im seriously thinking about buying it now. Psi-Ops was also fun with all of the powers your character has.

I think this is one of the best demo discs yet. All the games I've played over and over again, except Rogue Ops.

I dunno, it seemed decent enough (I did go back to play it a 2nd time after all) but the bug with the weapons dissapering kind of turned me off, plus I was honestly expecting better graphics after reading several previews (including that issue of OXM) where the author basically drooled all over himself praising the look of the game.

I guess IMO, the demo is just too short to really get a feel for the game. Could be anywhere from so-so to really good as a finished product.

Frankly I was playing HALO at the time I got this demo and think that game looks just as good, and it's years old. Maybe I'm just crazy.

Might need to pick this issue up. Most of the time, I skip the demos because they're for crap games.

I hate first person games. The controls mess me up and I like to see the character I'm controlling. However, every magazine I've read has given great praise to this game for graphics, gameplay, the voice acting of Vin Diesel, and it actually being a playable movie license game. I have the demo but I haven't played it yet. If this game were third person, I'd buy it in a heart beat. I like Vin Diesel, his movie Pitch Black (game is a prequel to that movie), and I want a decent game for my Xbox. Since it's an fps, I don't know.

I honestly dont know what problem you could have with the graphics..they look like Doom 3. The corridor envirmoents arnt too much to yay about, but from what i can tell that canges too.

Psi-Ops is freakin fun as all hell. Levitating a flammable barrel over someones head and then shooting it and creating "fire rain" is too much fun.

Metal Slug demo...well, its saved me a bunch of quarters already, so i'll probably buy this one.

Rouge ops...whatever

I did think it was kind of odd that they went 1st person, given that they have Vin Diesel on board. There seems to be numerous mini-cut scenes where the camera cuts back and you see Vin, though. (And it looks just like him.)

Yep, you're crazy.

That's what I figured.

Finally picked up this demo last night, and I have to agree...Riddick is underwhelming. The controls and graphics are pretty average. I expected more from it after all the screenshots I've seen.

Psi-Ops on the other hand is great. I didn't even play the demo mission, I just fool around in the training room. I also like that song they have for the videos.

Didn't play any of the other games (already have Rogue Ops), but I did watch some of the videos. I didn't realize Unreal Championship 2 would be so different from the UT2KX games. The melee weapons and different abilities for different characters looks very cool.

Damn, maybe I aint crazy after all!

I really have to give psi-ops a real go. I just have so many full games to get to I have trouble taking time to fool with a demo.

The best thing about psi-ops is since it isn't based on a license or a sequel of a previous best seller it will probably sell like crap and hit the bargain bin quickly...

I was alittle dissapointed with the Riddick demo, but I'm gonna give it another shot. I said the same about the Breakdown demo, and it winded up being one of my favorite xbox games.

Psi-Ops was way better than I was expecting tho. May have to pick that one up.

...as far as action and story, the riddick demo did nothing...then again, thats the intro level as far as i know.

Psi-ops is great, but realize you dont start the game with all your powers.

i like them both, but id be more likely to buy psi-ops than riddick.

Same here. I think I will buy it too, just to help show an interest in "classic" games like this. I recently picked up Contra Shattered Soldier for PS2 and really wish there were more games like it still being published.
